Humidifier Unit Types

Bypass Flow Through (Small & Large)
Water flows into an absorbent water panel pad. Air is forced through the saturated panel via a bypass duct that connects the return and supply ductwork. Less expensive than fan-powered models. Excess water flows down the drain.

Fan Powered Flow Through
Water flows into an absorbent water panel pad. Unit uses its own fan to force air through the saturated panel. Takes up less space than bypass models. Excess water flows down the drain.

Steam Injection (Small & Large)
Water is boiled to make steam, which is injected into forced-air ductwork. Uses less water but more electricity than flow-through models.

Drum
A foam pad on a circular drum is slowly rotated in a pan of water. Air is forced through the saturated pad via a bypass duct that connects the return and supply ductwork.

Self Contained
An internal fan forces water through a saturated water panel. Mounts in a closet or basement/crawlspace and does not require forced-air system to distribute humidification. Good for homes with radiant heat.
