This product works well as supplement to the filter on the dryer. I'm amazed how much it picks up - no wonder my vent line was getting plugged up. I installed it in a cabinet above the dryer which already had the ventline going thru it. The only question I have is how durable the filter screen will be after taking it out frequently

I have read all the pros and cons on this lint trap .I am here to say it is all great for me and is very easy to install.I even changed all my in wall dryer duct,right to roof and metal taped all joints.I have it facing thru wall right over the dryer and it is good and tight and really does a wonderful job of catching all the lint.As long as you have under a 25 foot run,the dryer has plenty of blower power to work with out a second blower fan.I have about 14 feet of run from dryer to roof vent.Now I do not have to climb in attic and dissasemble duct work to clean every couple of months.I tell all who read this "" BUY IT "".I have seen it for first time on DIY net work with Holmes on Homes and was completely sold on it.

I used the lint trap in a dryer roof vent installation. Works as designed to keep lint from blowing out on the roof, creating fire hazard.

Item installed easily but it isn't really designed to mount to walls or studs. Nor does it come with directions. I got it in the wall fine and it's working well and catching lots of lint. However, I would've liked if it had specific features to mount it to studs or drywall.

We were looking for something to cut down on the lint buildup in the dryer hose, as ours runs up to vent outside, having the washer/dryer in the basement. It catches most, if not all, or the lint from the dryer leaving less worry and hastle of constant cleaning out the dryer hose.

Even though I read everything that said: "Use only with a booster fan", I initially purchased it without a booster fan. (My only excuse for this lapse in logic is - I've watched too many "Holmes Inspection" shows and he never mentions any booster fan). After I got the lint trap, I decided to follow the instructions and buy a booster fan. I ended up getting the Tjerlund Lint Blitzer LB1 Booster Fan. After watching the Tjerlund video, I realize that the secondary lint trap is fairly pointless, but I since I purchased it, I installed it anyway.

The lint trap does what it says: It traps the lint that escapes the primary dryer filter. It must be conveniently located near the dryer as the filter needs cleaning after every 4th load (in my case). It attaches easily to 4" diameter dryer ducts. It's important to note here that their drawing is upside down. The door knob is at the input side. The door/screen assembly is an awkward design, but functional.

Now for the real issue with this product (I should note here that I am a product design engineer with 30+ years experience, though I don't design HVAC items). It has no means for installation what-so-ever. You really don't want to put screws anywhere inside the unit as this can interfere with screen removal. The force required to open and close the access door is more than basic duct work should be subjected to. It says "for drywall installation", but provides no means of securement.

I spray painted it white and did manage to semi-recess it into the wall, as my wall is only 4" thick. In conclusion, if you feel you must have this item (first go watch the Tjerlund video and ask yourself why), hopefully you either have access to a full wood workshop (as I do) or you crave the "industrial – exposed ductwork look" for your laundry room.

The installation was more difficult than I imagined in an old duct. The duct ran vertically in a wall behind an upper cabinet, through the top of the wall to a vent on the roof about 1-1/2 stories high. The installation was in the cabinet to conceal the trap.

The lint trap door is clumbsy to operate and the screen is flimsy. Once I mastered the door to assure a seal every time the trap has worked well and is keeping lots and lots of lint out of the long duct run. Hopefully I won't have to climb into the attic to clean out the roof vent so often.
