This was particularly annoying since I bought an expensive hood so that it would be quiet. A little research turned up this damper and it's worth every penny. We installed these dampers and it has made a 100% difference. The air no longer blows in. Our house is warmer, they were easy to install and work perfectly. Comments about American Aldes Aldes 7" Backdraft Damper - BDD7: I installed this backdraft damper and after a test run I had to disable one of the springs and left the other two in place and when the fan was operational the dampers opened fine with only the two springs. I have had several windy days since installed and it works fine, keeping the wind and dust out of the house, very well built. I would buy again if ever I need a back draft damper. Best Uses Comments about American Aldes Aldes 7" Backdraft Damper - BDD7: Completely thrilled with the thorough quality design. I didn't find anyone else with a comparable design--not even close. The packaging needs to be improved a lot. Box was falling apart around the corners. It was amazing it was not damaged!
