Passive Foundation Vent can be used to provide foundations with passive ventilation or can be used along with a fan-powered crawl space ventilator for maximum effectiveness. This unit not only provide ventilation during the warmer months, but also includes a winter door, which allows homeowners to fully seal the crawl space during the heating season--greatly improving the home's energy efficiency. This vent can be completely installed from the outside of the crawl space in minutes. The vent is now shipped with a stainless steel screen.
Great replacement foundation vents where original vents were found to be unsuitable. Since they are designed to fit on the outside of the foundation wall, they are large enough in most cases to cover holes that may not be exactly uniform due to in exact sizing of masonry holes during construction. Additionally, the PVC type of plastic used flexes to some degree allowing for installation over irregular masonry exterior surfaces. There are four other things that may be helpful to your installation. 1) Be prepared to buy longer lengths of the threaded rod that comes with the vents as the rods are too short for a standard brick veneer in front of cinder block foundation. 2) Be prepared to paint the vents to match your color scheme. I found Fusion paint made for plastic to adhere the best. 3) LEXCEL is the perfect caulking product to seal around the vents because it dries clear and adheres well to both masonry and plastic. 4) LEXCEL will stick the vent to the wall where the interior holder cannot be used.

Knurled nuts were advertised as bronze or copper. They came as plated steel. Not happy about that. Don't know any color scheme that will not require that you paint the grey colored PVC to fit your residence. However, Krylon FUSION paint works well with the product. I would have chosed dark brown or black to go with most exterior brick if I had been manufacturing these vents. Most foundations will require longer threaded rod which I bought separately.

I had purchased two vents earlier and was so impressed by the quality and ease of installation that I purchased four more to complete the installation (and keep a spare). The only "minuses" I can see are the size of the screen openings (a little too large to keep small bugs out) and the length of the retaining bolts (could be an inch longer). I was able to address both issues easily. Still, this product is very good for the proper ventilation of the crawl space. A wise investment.

This would be a great unit if the threaded rod was about 2 inches longer. your supposed to be able to install this without drilling any holes however with a block crawlspace is a wider foundation than the typical cement wall.

Used as basement vent and easy to install and maintain with little effort and a couple of tools. Changing the vent is easy. A great product and am very satisfied and will purchase more. Only change to recommend would be to use a screen with smaller openings to reduce insect invasion.
