These are well made dampers. I purchased this one and a 14" model. The pressure sensative adhesive that holds the foam gasket onto the 14" unit had already failed on the one that I received. On the six inch unit, the gasket was stretched and the ends overlapped when it was applied. This made the unit difficult to install. Peeling the end of the gasket away from the damper housing and cutting it to proper length cured the problem.

The product was very easy to install. Like the fact that the "duct end" wasn't exactly 6" like the duct work!

This was an incredibly simple installation! The product worked perfectly.

I installed a new range hood with a vertical vent through the roof and ended up with a significant back draft problem. The Aldes damper was the perfect solution. I was able to pop off the rain cap on the vent stack and push the damper in about five inches and replace the rain cap in about 15 minutes. The only tools needed were a screw driver, pliers, and a putty knife (to help slip the external gasket into the stack). I didn't need to cut into the pipe, no need to go into the attic, and no need to reseal any ductwork.

I tested my range hood and even at the lowest setting, the damper opened easily.

My kitchen is now warm again.

The only minor issue is that in strong winds, the flapper rattles a bit. I just need to push the unit a bit farther done the pipe.

Best product that I have purchased on-line in many years.

PROS: Quality made damper. Very sturdy, rubber flapper seal, minimal restriction, quiet close and run with no flutter. This one actually closes and seals. Easily modified. Beats other brands hands down.

This product is the best manufactured damper I have seen for residential use. Very glad I found it. Impressive how accurate the sheet metal, springs, and rubber seals, are made and fit together. Uncommon attention to detail makes a big difference in performance. The damper is truly round; not just a hastily assembled combination of sloppy metal parts as is so often found.

I had hot air backing in through the Stove vent hood. Installing the backdraft damper took just a few minutes and immediately stopped the hot air. I can only imagine how much it will help during the cold months and how much savings there will be on the electric bill.

Before we had a lot of air coming back through the downdraft vent on our kitchen cooktop. After installing the damper there is still a very slight, but barely detectable draft. The damper stopped 99% of the draft. It was easy to install and very well made. Overall I highly recommend it.

It is a great product in reguards to installation cost and efficency. Couldn't be easier to install. Everyone should have one, never knew the original installations don't have them!! Lots of wasted heat now in the house.
