Comments about American Aldes Aldes 4" Backdraft Damper - BDD4: Excellent product, resolved a negative pressure problem in my house when the fireplace is going and sealed off drafts from bath fans. I put two in one run of duct, one at the fan, and one at the entry point of the cold air. Whats nice about the one at the fan is you can check it's cleanliness from inside the house. The difference maker with this damper compared to others, is it closes on rubber gasketing creating as tight a seal as you are going to get. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend (1 of 1 customers found this review helpful) Was this review helpful? Comments about American Aldes Aldes 4" Backdraft Damper - BDD4: exactly what i was looking for. The external dampers would not fit because of my new roof. This is an internal piece that completely eliminates the external ones. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful? Cons Best Uses Comments about American Aldes Aldes 4" Backdraft Damper - BDD4: I bought a new bathroom fan and the damper that came with it was a piece of junk. Cons Best Uses Comments about American Aldes Aldes 4" Backdraft Damper - BDD4: I bought this to supplement the plastic flapper on my new bathroom fan. The Aldes 4" backdraft damper fit very nicely in the rigid 4inch vent pipe before attaching it to the fan. It takes very little pressure to open and the spring close is very positive. Cons Best Uses
Comments about American Aldes Aldes 4" Backdraft Damper - BDD4: I returned other vents and got this one because it's low profile and has screened, directional louvres. I recommend using a metal clamp to secure ductwork, and the Aldes 4" backdraft damper to minimize airflow and bugs. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful? Cons Best Uses
Comments about American Aldes Aldes 4" Backdraft Damper - BDD4: I had trouble finding a damper that would work in a cathedral ceiling where the bath fan duct slopes down. Most dampers seem to work on gravity and don't work when facing downwards. This one does, thanks to the spring mechanism. It truly does work in all positions. It also doesn't take up much room lengthwise. My duct run is short, so a longer damper could be problematic. I inserted this in the duct just past where it connects to the fan. Hoping it will work well. My bath isn't finished yet, so I don't know for sure (which is why I rated 4 stars instead of five). Just putting my hand up next to the ducting I could tell it really cuts the incoming cold air, which is good. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful?
