Used this to vent bathroom fan. Had to purchase extra things to install item. Noticed after purchase when going online for directions to install (directions weren't in box) that I should have ordered a different one which had everything necessary to install.

[...] We had installed the hood, transition to 6" and interior ducting when UPS knocked on the door!Used this wall cap as exhaust to a new Broam hood over a new gas cooktop. Ducted air up and then horizontally THROUGH the cabinet upper shelves. An 8" long integral duct to get through the outside wall would have been nice. We preassembled one and inserted the total assembly from the outside hole in the wall.We considered the very similar black Broam wall cap, but didn't want a black cap on a white wall. A cream-colored one would have been perfect (no-one paints houses white anymore).I thought when opening the box the material was too light-weight, but after installing it inplace, I am happy with the material gauge.I read the complaints about the bird screen falling out. When it arrives, the birdscreen is partially bent to match the angled profile of the vent cap. We took the screen out, flattened it completely, and put it back in, flexing only enough to go in, and not worrying about following the vent profile. So far it's fine. If it gives trouble later, I'll use aluminum strips to pop-rivet or metal screw it in place.Otherwise it's a great product and stands above the other junk out there.

Low quality. Bird screen held in by foam stickers. Required adjustment/modification for an effective installation. Too much money for a low quality box store product.

I replaced an old plastic unit with this aluminum one. It's sturdy, will last, but expensive for the chunk of formed sheet metal that it is.
