Excess humidity in the air can cause homes to be smelly, musty and noticeably damp. Nobody wants to go there, play there, be there. Excess humidity can damage basement furniture and furnishings, cause wood to swell and fabric to rot. Stored items grow mildew and wall paneling peels. High basement humidity can lead to health threatening conditions too. Any basement with relative humidity regularly above 60% can become the perfect breeding ground for a variety of pathogens like mold, mildew and fungi.
This Aprilaire Central Dehumidifier is designed specifically to control humidity inside the whole home as well as in crawlspaces and attics. Built-in duct collars alow for easy connection to the central HVAC system. This dehumidifier automatically and continually measures the true measure of moisture level, dew point. The unit operates to control humidity to the dryness set point that is either set on the unit or on the optional living space control. A built-in, automatic air cycling feature can be utilized to activate the HVAC fan to cycle the air throughout the whole home for proper balance for comfort. This dehumidifier also has a patented, built-in ventilation feature, which will allow fresh air to be brought into the home from the outside. In utilizing this feature, the dehumidifier will dehumidify the incoming air, if needed (based on dew point / dryness set point), as the outside air is first entering the home. The built-in ventilation feature is designed to be able to meet ASHRAE 62.2 Standard for Ventilation.
The Best Choice for healthy, comfortable air is the Model 1750A Whole House Dehumidifier installed in your new or existing heating and cooling system. The benefits and results speak for themselves:
Provides three times the moisture removing capacity of leading portable dehumidifiers-up to 90 pints or 11.25 gallons per day
Has no tank to empty - unit can be attached to home's water drainage system with 1" PVC pipe. Can also be gravity drained into floor drain or sump pit. Can use optional condensate pump to pump water up to a sink.
Automatically senses moisture levels and maintains optimum humidity levels in your home, never too much, or too little and running only when needed
Switches automatically between whole-house dehumidification when central air-conditioning system is running, and localized dehumidification when your air-conditioning isn't running
Convertible from whole-home to localized application lets you solve excess moisture issues where you need it most from crawl spaces to attics and basements
Can be operated manually, allowing you to monitor and control moisture levels in a specific location-such as your basement or master bedroom (optional Living Space Control is required)
Easy to use - level the feet, and plug it in, and set the humidity level!
Powerful, 275 CFM Fan
Includes aluminum MERV 8 filter for air intake - can be washed or replaced annually or semi-annually depending on conditions

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
This is a great unit that is very effective at removing humidity from my finished basement. I live in the humid Southeast and this is replacing a plastic unit that basically ran all the time and consumed a lot of power. I have it ducted into the central system and it is surprisingly quiet. My only complaint is the tricky control dial. There is a fine line between the humidity level you want and it just running all the time sucking power. For the money, they really should have used a digital control that was more accurate.

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
I originally bought one of these for my daughters home with unbelievable results. This year with so much rain the musty oders were unbearable coming up from my crawlspace. Looking down there I found the space to have a light coating of water on the floor and soaked insulation etc. Testing the humidity with an expensive humidistat, it was reading 87%.(the one that came with the unit read the same) I had to jam this unit into the space but was able to do a nice job. After one week the humidity was down to 52% with no oders. Three weeks now and we are down to 45%, no water and insulation dried. I will be purchasing a third unit for my upstate farm house. This unit is expensive but when you see the amount of water being processed you will know it's doing the job along with a new oder free dryness inside the house. Note: Mine seems alot quiter than my daughters unit

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
I have had the unit for a year now. I researched all products in this category including the option of the regular consumer dehumidifiers. I concluded that going with a unit that costs a little more and has better quality will be worth it in the long run. I ducted and wired it into my home's HVAC system. I may get a higher end thermostat to control it, but I am still investigating. Otherwise, it works quickly and keeps my RH at around 45%. The compressor vibrates more than I would like and wish it had more CFM (thus the thought of using a better thermostat to force the HVAC fan on). But those are minor cons and are not readily noticeable. It works efficiently. It comes on periodically and goes off at correct RH which I monitor separately. I also use a HVAC bypass humidifier to make sure the RH stays constant. After reading and experiencing the benefits of maintaining a the home's RH between 45 and 55%, I will never go back.

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
We recently installed this unit in a large sealed crawl space for a client. I was impressed with the quality of construction and ease of installation. The unit is extremely quiet when installed with duct work. It is still to cool to really be in dehumidifier season, but we will soon see how well it performs.

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
The unit works well and is MUCH quieter than inconvenient room dehumidifier. Overall comfort and convenience of maintaining normal humidity level in daylight basement is excellent. However, the cost savings in summer air conditioning are minimal at best. My electric bill is very similar whether I run humidifier only or humidifier plus AC.

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
Absolutely Fantastic!!! I replaced one of those Plastic Dehumidifiers, which basically ran all day, and couldn't lower the humidity to anything less then 60%, driving up my electric bill $$$$$. Now my humidity levels in my finished basement are down to 50% and the system is intermittently cycling. I Love It!!!
My installation is ducted and I'm using the Remote Aprilaire Humidistat. Installation was a breeze. I highly recommend this product.

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
My home has an oversized HVAC system for my 1800 sq/ft in hot and humid coastal NC. I have sturggled with 70%+ rh for years. Some rooms were as high as 80% rh.
I finally got fed up and bought this dehumidifier. The unit ran continuosly for about 2 weeks. I guess it was pulling at the moisture from my floors, walls, etc.
With the Aprilaire unit set at the midway point, or the "normal" setting, I have the humidity down to the low 40% rh throughout the house.
Turning up knob towards drier and I can get the rh down into the 20% range. This dehumidifier is awesome!!!!
I'm not a HVAC pro, but I did the install myself. With good insturctions, and a little common sense, the setup is a breeze.
