Updated housing color

Excess humidity in the air can cause homes to be smelly, musty and noticeably damp. Nobody wants to go there, play there, be there. Excess humidity can damage basement furniture and furnishings, cause wood to swell and fabric to rot. Stored items grow mildew and wall paneling peels. High basement humidity can lead to health threatening conditions too. Any basement with relative humidity regularly above 60% can become the perfect breeding ground for a variety of pathogens like mold, mildew and fungi.
This Aprilaire Central Dehumidifier is designed specifically to control humidity inside the whole home as well as in crawlspaces and attics. Built-in duct collars alow for easy connection to the central HVAC system. This dehumidifier automatically and continually measures the true measure of moisture level, dew point. The unit operates to control humidity to the dryness set point that is either set on the unit or on the optional living space control. A built-in, automatic air cycling feature can be utilized to activate the HVAC fan to cycle the air throughout the whole home for proper balance for comfort. This dehumidifier also has a patented, built-in ventilation feature, which will allow fresh air to be brought into the home from the outside. In utilizing this feature, the dehumidifier will dehumidify the incoming air, if needed (based on dew point / dryness set point), as the outside air is first entering the home. The built-in ventilation feature is designed to be able to meet ASHRAE 62.2 Standard for Ventilation.
The Best Choice for healthy, comfortable air is the Model 1750A Whole House Dehumidifier installed in your new or existing heating and cooling system. The benefits and results speak for themselves:
Provides three times the moisture removing capacity of leading portable dehumidifiers-up to 90 pints or 11.25 gallons per day
Has no tank to empty - unit can be attached to home's water drainage system with 1" PVC pipe. Can also be gravity drained into floor drain or sump pit. Can use optional condensate pump to pump water up to a sink.
Automatically senses moisture levels and maintains optimum humidity levels in your home, never too much, or too little and running only when needed
Switches automatically between whole-house dehumidification when central air-conditioning system is running, and localized dehumidification when your air-conditioning isn't running
Convertible from whole-home to localized application lets you solve excess moisture issues where you need it most from crawl spaces to attics and basements
Can be operated manually, allowing you to monitor and control moisture levels in a specific location-such as your basement or master bedroom (optional Living Space Control is required)
Easy to use - level the feet, and plug it in, and set the humidity level!
Powerful, 275 CFM Fan
Includes aluminum MERV 8 filter for air intake - can be washed or replaced annually or semi-annually depending on conditions

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
[...]; the unit is heavy so make sure you have a dolly. The 1750 is being used in the basement of a fairly large home which is smelly and damp. The basement is unfished so the unit is not ducted. It has been running for 4 days straight and it reduced my basement humidity from 67 to 48%. I think it would have reduced it faster if it hadn't rain so much which really increased the humidity. It is quieter that than the typical 70 pint units you buy at the box store. It appears to be well built which probably justifies its cost.

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
I tried many of the small portable units that one buys for a couple or a few hundred bucks. For a 500 sq. foot basement workshop, they were all very unsatisfactory. This Aprilaire unit has a veritable stream of water running out the drain pipe. It gets the humidity where you want it in two or three hours instead of two or three weeks.

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
This unit is plug and play simple for use in a basic basement drying install. The 1750A ductable is nice because it gives the versatility of a later in-line ducted installation, while working just fine as a standalone unit. Mine dried up my terribly humid 1300sqft basement in about 24 hours; something that would have taken my (now broken) 70pint unit several days to do. It keeps the basement even drier than my A/C controlled upstairs (40% humidity), and is only set to level 3 or 4. the big difference is how much air it moves. The blower is quite powerful, yet is quieter than my old 70pt unit. Don't plan on moving it much though. Weight is manageable, but the large dimensions of the unit make it awkward to transport even with a dolly. With the reliance on a PVC pipe to drain the condensate water, there's not much practicality in moving it continually anyway.

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
I see that the reported efficiency of the 1750A is 35% lower than the Santa Fe Advance. Can this be true? The SF Advance shows 5.5p/kwh but this unit is 3.6 p/kwh. The Aprilaire seems to be a superb unit with features that the Santa Fe advance does not have and has recently been redesigned. There sure seems to be something wrong here. The SF Advance is reported to pull less current than the 1750A.

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
My basement humidity dropped from 85 percent to 50 percent in 2 days running at full speed. The foul smell and mold is almost gone. Unit very easy to install. We added the whole home with ventilation bring in fresh air from the outside with our central air to reduce indoor air pollution as it runs through the Aprilaire 1750A dehumidifier and 2200 Media air cleaner. My house smells like the fresh outdoors.
Excellent product. My hats off to the distributor and the people of Aprilaire. I would recommend this website to a friend or family member.

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
This unit is awesome. Took my 1,200 sq foot basement from nearly 70% humidity to 40% in about 12 hours. Initially I set it on the highest to get things dried out. Now its set in the middle and humidity ranges from 45% to 53%.
I got this unit because it will do up to 2,500 sq ft. So its really over sized for my application. However, my thinking is, it will not work as hard to keep the humidity low. And therefore, the energy used will be the same as a smaller more efficient unit. But that's my theory. So the only thing left is to see how much energy it will use.
The other good thing is the noise level. It is NOT super quiet, but is more quiet than the small whirlpool portable unit it replaced. I've got it in the basement and cannot hear it up stairs n my living area.
And lastly, the warranty on this is great. Overall, very happy...so far..its only been 3 weeks. :-)

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
This is the second unit in 5 years that I purchased (two different houses). I cannot say enough good things about how it functions. I use it in a basement and humidity is a thing of the past. It's easy to install and performs as advertised. Yes, it cost more than those you can buy at your local hardware store, but it works and keeps on working for years.[...]

Comments about Aprilaire 1750A Ductable Dehumidifier:
I purchased this Aprilaire 1750A whole house dehumidifier to replace a #1700 purchased through an HVAC company, 2-3 years ago. At the time I also paid for a professional installation" (total machine and installation $3300). After the "professional installation" of the 1700, I noticed both flex pipes leading to the 1700 were attached to the HVAC return duct. Then, the installer had run a rather long extension cord to power the 1700. Then after quite along time and being totally disatisfied with the 1700, I noticed the professional had failed to turn the system switch ON when it was installed. The professional also sat the 1700 on an old large empty wire spool I had in the area of my HVAC - I had it there to throw away.... I built a better table and moved the 1700. Then after the #1700 motor assembly froze, and while I personally was installing the new 1750A, I noticed no back flow damper had been installed on the original 1700 system.
Now, I am totally satisfied with the 1750A and its installation this time - for I - a homeowner installed the system. I also purchased a #1770 for my home in Alabama - and also personally installed it. The 1750A and 1770 allow me to set my HVAC thermostat to a higher temp - due to less humidity as a result of my Aprilaires. Aprilaire dehumidifier in South Carolina and Alabama make for better, more healthy lifestyle. Wouldn't part with either the 1750A or 1770. Highly recommend Aprilaire...but look carefully at the "professional installation".
