Tjernlund Duct Airstat senses positive pressure in a forced air heating and/or cooling system. The single pole, single throw, snap-acting switch is activated by a diaphragm with a factory installed sampling tube inserted directly into the duct or plenum. The Duct Airstat can be used to initiate such auxiliary devices as: Duct Boosters, Electronic Air Cleaners, Electrical Duct Heaters, and Humidifiers. The electrical contacts of the switch are closed upon sensing positive air pressure generated by the blower.
FEATURES: High Sensitivity Maximum Temperature Limit of 190 F. Simple Installation Self-Sealing Factory Mounted Sampling Tube Mounting Hardware Included
Switch activates Duct Booster by sensing positive pressure on either plenum, trunk, or branch lines

LOCATION AND MOUNTING: 1. The duct Airstat must be mounted in a vertical position. 2. Drill a 11/32" hole in the duct or plenum to permit the insertion the pressure probe. If furnace has central air-conditioning, care must be taken so as not to drill into the cooling coil when mounting the Duct Airstat on the furnace plenum. 3. Insert the pressure probe into the drilled hole, position the Duct Airstat and mark the mounting holes. If necessary, bend the mounting feet with pliers to match the contour of the duct or plenum. 4. Remove control and drill or punch two 1/8" holes for mounting screws. 5. Using the two sheet metal screws furnished, fasten the Duct Airstat to the duct or plenum. Sealing gasket must be mounted on pressure probe to ensure minimal air leakage.
Comments about Tjernlund Duct Airstat Positive Pressure Duct Fan Switch (PS1503):
Works as designed. I put it near the end of a long run and my furnace fan is set on low. Sometimes it did not sense the pressure. I found if you ship the top out a bit, while still insuring the probe is sealed to the duct, it becomes more sensitive.

Comments about Tjernlund Duct Airstat Positive Pressure Duct Fan Switch (PS1503):
I'm new to the pressure switch market and how-to install them. For me, the instructions are far too vague and do not give enough information install on a step-by-step bases. After some head scratching and browsing on the internet, I found the missing pieces to help me through the installation. As for the product, this is my second one. The first lasted, a little less than a year. I'm not sure if this is normal, but I would have expected a little longer life out of a product that I only really use on the colder days.

It was able to sense a pressure difference at the end of a long run of duct work, where I put a inline duct fan saved me from running wire to the furnace some 70 feet away, good stuff!

I'm using this with a Fantech fan to boost more airflow to a bonus room above our garage. So far, it works very well turning the fan on and off when the furnace blower turns on and off. Pretty easy to install as well. I wired a wall plug to it and ran the other end from the unit to the air booster.

Power for duct booster
Comments about Tjernlund Duct Airstat Positive Pressure Duct Fan Switch (PS1503):
Installed with a duct booster. My first install location (convenient for power hookup) turned out not to have enough air pressure to activate switch! I had to rewire all the way to the main Trunk Line! 50+ feet away from the Booster! Instructions should have warned about air pressure requirements and included some examples. 14 Gauge wire Barely fit in the small contacts and was quite frustrating. But it works Great! Just another example of "Live and Learn"
