This product is found in the large bypass and fan-powered humidifiers manufactured by Aprilaire, Honeywell, Bryant, Carrier, Totaline, Lennox, Trane, American Standard, and many others.
The humidifier filter is constructed using an expanded aluminum mesh pad covered with a special clay-like coating that absorbs water and removes mineral deposits. The process of humidification begins when water flows through a humidifier valve and soaks the filter. Hot, dry air from the furnace or fan coil passes through the filter and absorbs the water. The this moist air is distributed through the home via the forced-air duct system.
It is recommended that the whole house humidifier filter is replaced at least once per heating season. Hard water areas my require two changes per season to ensure peak performance.

I have been spending over $50 each filter through my HVAC group and come to find out I can just purchase my filters through Discount Filters. The product was exactly what I needed. I was able to purchase 2 filters for less than what I used to spend on 1. The only minor issue is that I wish installation directions were included. Not a deal breaker, but would be nice.
