This new high performance filter is 97% effective at attracting and capturing large airborne allergena like pollen, mold spores and dust mites. This carries 3M's microparticle rating of 1550 (approximately equivalent to MERV 11 rating). Media is electrostatically charged.
This filter should be changed at least every twelve months. Certain conditions in your home will significantly add particle to the air. This will cause the filter to capture more particles than usual, shortening it's life to less than twelve months or reducing the effectiveness of the filter to capture particles. These conditions include: tobacco smoke, sanding projects, pets, woodburning fireplaces, construction work, burning candles, etc..

These replace the very expenseive electrostatic filters that I had to clean every week or so for them to be effective. They are an easier solution that appears to work just as well.
I've been using this filter for the past 3 years, with excellent results. Fit is good(Lennox system), no noise or air flow reduction. Family suffers from various allergans, and one of us has asthma, so I install a clean filter before each allergy season (spring and fall). I will add that the filtering material has not shown any bacteria, mold, mildew or fungi in normal use, as claimed by the manufacturer. I have not experienced anything negative with the filter. On another note, I may increase the MERV value to a 16, this one is appx. 11, in order to further reduce allergans, but for now this filter works good. When my A/C unit broke, the service man told me that I needed a new filter. I purchased the same one that was installed when I bought my house, and the filter came quickly and at a very reasonable price. It was easy to install the filter, and best of all, it came in a pack of two. I really like the fact that this filter is a 12-month filter, since most filters out there are 3-months.
Bought this product here for 2 years. Great product at the best price on the web. With 2 dogs and 2 cats I only get 3 months out of a filter. But, that's to be expected.
Check the fit carefully! Although the packaging says 4", the ACTUAL size is 4-3/8", which won't fit the filter holder on my furnace! My wife and I have heavy allergies, so I will contact a sheet metal shop to get the filter holder refitted.
We have been using the 'off the shelf' Filtrete filter for years and would not use anything else.
