Well, this model was made just for you. Designed to fit 2" x 6" joists or larger, this low-profile fan doesn't sacrifice performance for size. An optional 3" duct adaptor1 is also included for those areas where a smaller duct is necessary.
So Quiet You Might Not Know it's On This WhisperFitT fan features a totally enclosed condenser motor and a large, double suction blower wheel to quietly move air. A small wheel turning very fast will create more noise than a large wheel turning more slowly for a given airflow. Our fan uses a wide blower wheel that moves a large amount of air at reduced RPMs. The blower wheel is also designed to draw air in from both sides, which helps keep the noise down, as there is more area for the air to enter the wheel. In fact, it is quiet enough that you might not even know it's on.
Continuous, Trouble-free Operation for Many Years This fan is designed to give you continuous, trouble-free operation for many years thanks in part to its high-quality components and permanently lubricated motors which wear at a slower pace. Also, since heat is always detrimental to motor life (the cooler the environment, the longer the motor will last), we designed the electrical configuration of this model's condenser motor to allow it to operate at lower temperatures, increasing the life of the motor and bearings. And, the fan housing is made of heavy-gauge zinc galvanized steel and painted to protect it from rust.
User-Friendly Installation Detachable adaptors, firmly secured duct ends, adjustable mounting brackets (up to 26"), fan/motor units that detach easily from the housing and uncomplicated wiring all lend themselves to user-friendly installation. This model also features a double-hanger bar system for ideal positioning.

Loose fill or batt insulation can be placed directly over the fan housing to prevent heat from escaping.

I was very pleased with this fan - the installation was simple and the fan seems to be very sturdy once installed - unlike the wobbly nutone fan I took out. Also - was able to fit within 6" ceiling cavity with ease.

You can tell that this is a great fan by how nice it looks. It runs smooth and quite. You can't hear it when the shower is on at all. I can't hear it standing outside of the bathroom with the door closed. The sound is mostly the air being pulled out of the room by the fan.
It makes just enough noise that you don't have to worry about leaving it on by mistake. If you are a little hard of hearing then maybe you wouldn't hear it.
This one pulls enough air out of my 5 foot by 8 foot bathroom to keep the mirror clear. I have clear glass doors on the shower and they get almost no steam on them. Without the fan they would be soaked with water top to bottom. It looked like you sprayed them all over with the shower head. Now with the fan on one door has almost no water on it. The other one has much less on it. A big difference that I didn't expect!

This fan is great but not as good as the non-low profile version with the DC motor. Identical install to the DC version if you just don't have the ceiling height. It is noisier despite having the same ratings but still very quiet.

I must have spent hours reading reviews and reasearching fans. Most of my research pointed me to this brand of fan. I agree with the reviews. It is quiet and smooth. Minimal noise in fact I need a timer now because we forget that the fan is on. Moves air very well. No metal cover to rot like others.No vibration. [...] I am glad that I didn't just run out to a big box store and grab what they had.

The Panasonic vent fan is well made, quiet and easy enough to install. It's quietness is a plus. With water running or the radio turned on at a normal volume the fan is unheard. I notice that when the fan is turned off the blower wheel spin down seems to go on and on thanks in part to good motor bearings. I am pleased with this product! A replacement motor for the old vent fan came in thirty dollars less then this new, energy efficient, quieter and all around nicer unit.

We now have two of these fans in our home. They are hands down the best we have installed over the years. They are so quiet you need to pay attention when leaving the room or they stay running all day. With bathroom use, shower steam/moisture is never on the mirror after a hot shower. We have no complaints......
