So Quiet You Might Not Know it's On Whisper-Lite™ fans feature a totally enclosed condenser motor and a large, double suction blower wheel to quietly move air. A small wheel turning very fast will create more noise than a large wheel turning more slowly for a given airflow. Our fan uses a wide blower wheel that moves a large amount of air at reduced RPMs. The blower wheel is also designed to draw air in from both sides, which helps keep the noise down, as there is more area for the air to enter the wheel. In fact, it is quiet enough that you might not even know it's on.
Continuous, Trouble-free Operation for Many Years This fan is designed to give you continuous, trouble-free operation for many years thanks in part to its high-quality components and permanently lubricated motors which wear at a slower pace. Also, since heat is always detrimental to motor life (the cooler the environment, the longer the motor will last), we designed the electrical configuration of this model's condenser motor to allow it to operate at lower temperatures, increasing the life of the motor and bearings. And, the fan housing is made of heavy-gauge zinc galvanized steel and painted to protect it from rust.

I installed it in my mom's bathroom. I have to say this unit is GREAT. Very quiet. Very well made. Standard Japanese high quality. Forget that Home Depot brand.
My mother didn't think we needed the night light, but now uses it all the time.
The installation instructions were a bit confusing, for me at least. Much cross-referencing "...continue from step 6 on page 8...". For the mounting of the unit I had to improvise to fit it within the 80 year old house's dimensions. Can't blame Panasonic for the hard install. Plaster ceiling and tight dimensions for the exhaust tubing. Due to sharp bends I went with 4" steel tubing instead of flexible insulated hose.
If you need to cut a 4-1/4" hole to the outside of your house for the vent, take my advice: buy the 4-1/4" hole saw for $30. It would have saved me a lot of time.

We recently remodeled our master bathroom and didn't have an existing bathroom fan - only a light. We had a terrible issue with moisture on the walls which was leaving water stains, etc. NOW - with this new fan/light installed the problem is gone! This fan/light is awesome! It is so quiet! Used to vent bathroom. Best fan I have ever seen. Very quiet and very powerful. Easy to install, modular design is great. Quality very good. Could find no faults. It does have internal damper with fan, but not real tight one as aftermarket dampers one can purchase and install in vent pipe. I purchased this fan for our laundry room to replace the original ugly noisy 17 year old fan. Installation was very simple due to the huge attic we have. I used double face tape on the mounting flange of the fan to hold it in place while I screwed the mounting brackets to the 2 x 4's. This fan is heavy duty, really quiet and it moves the air very nicely. I will purchase another soon for our guest bath room.
