I have purchased less expensive air filters in the past, but those models lacked the cut out on the side. This led to me having to crush in part of the filter in order to fit our Trane Furnace. This model has the cut out, and slides in easily. This would lead me to believe that all the air is being forced through the filter, which leads to cleaner air in our home.
