Comments about Thermastor Duct Kit for New Santa Fe Compact Dehumidifier - Return & Supply (4030426):

I ordered Santa Fe Compact 2 Dehumidifier (4033600) along with Duct Kit for New Santa Fe Compact Dehumidifier - Return & Supply (4030426) to draw moisture out of basements' media and game room. Plan was to position it in the middle of long, enclosed duct run. After receiving ordered items and going through it in more details I noticed that ducting unit on both sides is not practical solution because every 6 months or so, when you need to change filters, you would need to disassemble that side in order to get to the filters. I tried to call support at DehumidifierExperts.com but phone was always busy, so I called manufacturer (Thermastor) customers support and they confirmed my realization that only one side should be connected to duct. In conversation, they told me this duct kit (4030426) was good for older unit because it had access to the filters on both sides of the unit, but when they redesigned it they get away with that option. Now, if you go to see title of item # 4030426 you'll find that it is for NEW Santa Fe Compact Dehumidifier ???
I could not give more than 3 star rating because:
- I could not get to DehumidifierExperts by phone;
- they did not include any note that return duct installation would have to be taken down when changing filters, and because all items were ordered at the same time, they should have contacted me to let me know;
- and because I'm left with parts that are not needed (return duct kit) which, by the way, cost more than supply duct that was installed.
In the end, I have to mention that even though return duct kit was not used in this installation, it seems to be of good quality: return cover is made of painted metal type the same as unit, and the other part that connects unit to duct is made of some type of hard plastic; all seems made to last.
