4029800 (replaces old part 4025699)
The Santa Fe Advance is intended for installation in crawlspaces or basements which experience short- to long-term high humidity conditions, however the attractively designed unit can be placed in almost any residential or business setting where humidity control is desired. The Santa Fe Advance is designed to operate in temperatures between 56°F and 95°F, which typically include lower temperatures found in basements and crawlspaces. In addition, the small physical profile of the unit allows it to be conveniently placed inside height restricted spaces.
The Santa Fe Advance will help maintain the structural integrity of your home, inhibit mold growth, and improve the indoor air quality of your home by removing odor-causing moisture and maintaining 50% or less relative humidity as recommended by the EPA, American Lung Association, and American Medical Association.
Large Capacity: This high capacity dehumidifier removes up to 90 pints of water per day at standard conditions-enough water removal capacity for areas up to 2200 square feet.
Low Temp Operation: The Santa Fe Advance is powerful enough to control humidity even in the cooler environments of crawlspaces. Dehumidifiers are rated for capacity at 80°F and 60% relative humidity. At the cooler, real-life temperatures of a crawlspace, the capacity of conventional dehumidifiers drops dramatically. At temperatures below 65°F, frost forms on the coils of a conventional unit and causes the unit to ice-up. Frost cuts down on air circulation so the unit does not remove as much moisture from the air. Some units have automatic defrost but remove minimal quantities of water in cooler conditions. However, even at regular conditions, the Santa Fe Advance removes more pints of water per day than most dehumidifiers.
MERV-11 Filtration: The Santa Fe Series utilizes a blower rather than a propeller fan allowing the use of high-efficiency air filtration for improved indoor air quality. Standard MERV-11 filtration is 65% efficient at capturing particles from 1.0 to 3.0 microns in size-resulting in effective filtration of most mold spores.
Optional Ductability: When using the optional ducting kit - attaching ductwork to the unit promotes air circulation throughout the crawlspace allowing for the location of the unit by the crawlspace access door for convenience. The unit may also be located remotely when space doesn't allow for placement in the crawlspace.
The unit has 4 leveling feet, an 8' drain hose, and 10' power cord. Optional leveling casters are available to make unit more portable (leveling feet are standard). Separate fan control allows for continuous fan operation or operation only when the unit is actively removing moisture from the air. Humidity control knob allows unit to turn on and off automatically to maintain the humidity level that is ideal for your environment. Washable prefilter. Pleated air filter for finer particle removal.
Condensate drains via gravity from a port on the side of the unit. An optional pump kit can be purchased if water must be moved up and away from the dehumidifier. The pump kit can move water up to the outdoors, over to a sump pit or up to a sink (20 foot lift)

We are Certified Energy Star builders, building custom homes. The crawl spaces under the homes we build are encapsulated with 20 mil plastic on the ground and closed cell foam on the walls which help eliminates most of the moisture from getting into the crawl space. This product puts the icing on the cake and keeps the crawl space at the desired humidity.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Advance Dehumidifier (4029800):
Purchased the Santa Fe in June or July of 2011 for the basement and used it until end of Aug/Sept 2011. Didn't need to use it during the winter months. Summer 2012 came and started using the unit. It worked for about a month and then it broke. The dehumidifier wasn't extracting moister from the air and the on cycle ran way too long. Because the dehumidifier wasn't under warranty any longer I had to send it to the manufacturer in Wisconsin. They were kind enough not to charge me for the repairs because the warranty had only been up for a week or so. The unit was fixed and returned. The dehumidifier continues to work and keep the basement dry, but it's so noisy I can hear it from any room on the main floor, and the vibration is ridiculous. When this dehumidifier doesn't work any longer I will not get another one. It's not worth the steep price.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Advance Dehumidifier (4029800):
I had a dehumidifier purchased from a big box store which worked well until it died after one full year of use. I did not want to keep replacing cheap units every year or two, so I ordered the Santa Fe Advance. The unit was easy to install, but Santa Fe could make it easier if they provided an easy way to make a connection to a PVC drain pipe. Once installed the Santa Fe Advance reduced the humidity in my crawl space much more quickly than my old unit. I have had the unit about a month now and it has worked flawlessly so far. Only time will tell if it is worth the price. I think it will have to last at least ten years to justify the price.
The Santa Fe Advance runs quietly enough for use in a crawl space. The only time I can hear it is at night when the house is very quiet.
The one improvement I would like to see is in the humidistat. At this price a digital humidity setpoint and readout should be included. The old unit from the big box store had digital controls which were quite accurate and kept the humidity controlled in a tighter range than does the Santa Fe Advance.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Advance Dehumidifier (4029800):
Drain tube attachment is so-so. Other dehumidifiers had a more secured attachment. With no clamp or other securing mechanism (threaded hose), we are experiencing leakage.
Leveling bubble. With the constant pooling of water under the equipment, we have manipulated the leveling legs and are getting the leveling bubble centered as instructed. After doing this about 6 times we have given up. I hope we don't damage this expensive equipment (and are getting poor results as this pooling just evaporates back into the air instead of draining to the sump).

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Advance Dehumidifier (4029800):
I have had the SantaFe Advanced now for 5 1/2 years. I rate this 3 1/2 stars, but this review site does not allow for that, thus 3 stars. The unit performed well for the first 2 years, then slowly started to take longer to do the same job. My main complaint is NOISE and COST of use. I keep my sealed 1800sqft crawlspace an average of 48%. I had the unit near the entrance to the crawlspace (under my bedroom), but had to relocated it at the center of the crawlspace because of the NOISE. The unit is too noisy to run at night while sleeping even at its new location, so I have it on a timer to shut off power. During the day you can hear it, but it is not annoying with other daily noises like TV. Even running only 15 hours a day(it does cycle off and on during this time if outside humidity is low) it still adds about $40+ a month to my electric bill. This is Energy Star? There are other comparable units that use less wattage. The plastic casing is cheap! The way it is attached and the vibration of the compressor causes the plastic cover to make noise too. The casing seems too big as there are air gaps between it and the frame where it screws on, circumventing the filter. I was able to adjust the compressor mounting bolts to affect less vibration, but not by much. This did get rid of the loud low resonance oscillating noise, that aggravated the you know what out of me. Now after 5+ years the unit will not reduce the humidity below 51%. I will have my HVAC man check it. I'm not sure if this unit is any better or worse than other specifically designed crawlspace units. I do know the consumer grade retail units you buy at the locale hardware/homeware stores will not last more than a year and will not do the job. That's if you can find one that will fit the crawlspace, as most are designed to sit tall. You do need a commercially grade unit. Now if they would only make a quiet unit! Do you homework and look at the other crawlspace models by other manufacturers. If I have to replace this unit I'm not sure I will buy another Santa-Fe. The problem is I'm not sure the other comparable units are any better/worse quality.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Advance Dehumidifier (4029800):
I'm using this dehumidifier to dry out my crawlspace in super humid Tennessee weather. Water was beginning to gather in little pools and the insulation was beginning to droop. The little pools dried up after 48 hours of running. I had to drill a hole though the cinder block foundation to run the plastic tube to the outside. I could have used another couple feet of tubing.

Summer Humidity
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Advance Dehumidifier (4029800):
This unit replaced a [...] and a Danby, both of which lasted about a year before leaking all the refrigerant. The Danby was particularly frustrating because it kept running and running while never lowering the humidity. Finally, I decide to bite the bullet and spend some money on the Santa Fe unit. I have it set to turn the fan on when the compressor comes on. It is a wonderful unit, runs about 11 minutes to drop humidity from 44 to 43, then shuts off for about 45 minutes untill the level has gone back up to 44 again and repeats the process. It was very easy to set up with the integral level and is really very quiet--no loud throbbing or humming. I would buy it again in a minute.
