Option A is the preferred method of mounting because it requires the least amount of duct reinforcement to support the humidifier and keep it level. A duct width of at least 10 inches is necessary. Wider ducts may need to be reinforced in order to hold the humidifier level.

I have about a 2,000 sq ft. house in Utah where it is very dry. This humidifier may have been a little bit overkill for my house. It will take relative humidity from 35% to 70% in about 4 to 6 hours in the entire house. It was a moderately difficult installation. I did it in one day installing new breakers and outlets and everything. The instruction book is very good. It even made the wiring very simple. I am very happy with this product. The only thing that I would have done differently is maybe get a little smaller unit, but this works great.
