On these lights the hot and neutral hook up on opposite sides than does a regular plug outlet...the instructions show this but who reads those now days. THey are pretty bright so I would also have them on a switch so you can turn them off at night if you choose.

We used these lights as an inexpensive option for lighting our stairway when we finished the basement. We moved our children downstairs and wanted to ensure a lighted path to us, if necessary.
