Can't Install a Fan in the Ceiling? Don't Worry This WhisperWall fan was designed specifically for through-the-wall mounting to provide ventilation in rooms where a ceiling mounted fan is not possible. An exterior hood with a backdraft damper is included to finish off the job.
So Quiet You Might Not Know it's On This fan features a totally enclosed condenser motor and a large, double suction blower wheel to quietly move air. A small wheel turning very fast will create more noise than a large wheel turning more slowly for a given airflow. Our fan uses a wide blower wheel that moves a large amount of air at reduced RPMs. The blower wheel is also designed to draw air in from both sides, which helps keep the noise down, as there is more area for the air to enter the wheel. In fact, it is quiet enough that you might not even know it's on.
Continuous, Trouble-free Operation for Many Years This fan is designed to give you continuous, trouble-free operation for many years thanks in part to its high-quality components and permanently lubricated motors which wear at a slower pace. Also, since heat is always detrimental to motor life (the cooler the environment, the longer the motor will last), we designed the electrical configuration of this model's condenser motor to allow it to operate at lower temperatures, increasing the life of the motor and bearings. And, the fan housing is made of heavy-gauge zinc galvanized steel and painted to protect it from rust.

For the money it't the quietest vent on the market. The cost was $100 less than local suppliers. Installation instructions were simple to follow. When mounted on wall, product care and UL safety labels are visible on bottom of Grill, they should be on top, and out of sight!

I like the unit. Moves air well and very quiet. One problem....the exterior vent cover flap freezes closed in below freezing weather due to condensation. Can easily be "popped open," manually, by inserting a long narrow object, from the inside, through the grill cover and through the fan blades to tap open the flap. An inconvenience, to say the least, for a somewhat expensive product!

Installed in a bathroom that when showering the walls and ceiling would sweat and run with moisture , bath mirror would never clear. After the install no moisture and mirror is clear. I should have done this along time ago. Easy install, great quality product, quiet its top of the line, highly recommond this fan. Great company to deal with, was shipped fast no problems,kept me informed as to when it would be delivered. Good price!

I haven't installed it yet. Installation seems simple if you follow the installation instructions on Panasonic's website which are reasonably clear. Based on other reviews, it seem like a very good unit in all aspects except one. The only problem I have is that the grill protrudes out over 2" from the wall. It is very obtrusive and sticks out terribly as opposed to the grill being tapered to the wall as all other grills are. To compound this issue, the spec lables for the unit are on the bottom side of the grill. They are in red & black and are very obvious when you look up at the grill. The designer gets a D- for this grill and overall look. I am surprised that no other reviews have reflected my comments. I am trying to retrofit it with tapered type grill to achieve a more normal look. If I can't, I will return this otherwise probably very good exhaust fan. By the way, there aren't many other units on the market to compete with this one. Good luck to me.

Overall I am satisfied with the unit, but for the price I thought it would have been better engineered. There is no thermal break between the outside and inside parts of the unit, all metal, so I am concerned that it will be cold in the winter. The outside louver is very cheaply made and does not seal very well, another concern for winter.
