This fan is designed to run continuously ensuring a healthy climate at low CFM levels 24 hours a day.NOTE: This NEW model can also be configured for spot (non-continuous) ventilation!! This fan is also built to take care of the homeowners spot ventilation needs when the room is occupied. This fan kicks-up to a maximum level of 80 CFM when the switch is turned on or activated by the SmartActionT Motion Sensor. A High/Low Delay Timer, located inside the fan unit, is utilized to return the fan back to the pre-set continuous ventilation mode (or off altogether).
SmartAction® Motion Sensor The SmartAction motion sensor automatically activates whenever someone enters or leaves the room.
DC Brushless Motor Panasonic's DC brushless motor provides unparalleled energy efficiency with its magnetic rotor and print circuit board. The magnetic rotor prevents energy loss while the print circuit board incorporates a unique IC chip which monitors and directs the RPM of the fan blade. The combination of these two unique features allows the DC motor to have higher energy efficiency than an AC motor.
Constant CFM Performance This WhisperGreenT model features built-in intelligence called SmartFlowT Optimum CFM Technology. This unique "electronic-brain" lets the fan do what was once thought to be impossible, perform at a constant CFM regardless of elbows and other factors that might hinder performance. Basically, when a WhisperGreenT fan faces static pressure, its speed is automatically increased to ensure that the desired CFM is actually achieved. This allows the fan to perform as rated and makes for easier installation because the installer no longer has to worry as much about compromising the fan's performance. Uses ultra energy-efficient DC motor.
Variable Speed Control This fan is equipped with a CustomVentT Variable Speed Control. This allows the fan to run continuously at a pre-set lower level of 30-70 CFMs that can then be elevated to a maximum of 80 CFMs when the switch is turned on, or via the SmartActionT Motion Sensor. A High/Low delay timer(adjustable from 30 seconds - 60 minutes), will then return the fan to the minimum CFM level after a period of time set by the user.
So Quiet You Might Not Know it's On This WhisperCeilingT model features a totally enclosed condenser motor and a large, double suction blower wheel to quietly move air. A small wheel turning very fast will create more noise than a large wheel turning more slowly for a given airflow. Our fan uses a wide blower wheel that moves a large amount of air at reduced RPMs. The blower wheel is also designed to draw air in from both sides, which helps keep the noise down, as there is more area for the air to enter the wheel. In fact, it is quiet enough that you might not even know it's on.
Continuous, Trouble-free Operation for Many Years This fan is designed to give you continuous, trouble-free operation for many years thanks in part to its high-quality components and permanently lubricated motors which wear at a slower pace. Also, since heat is always detrimental to motor life (the cooler the environment, the longer the motor will last), we designed the electrical configuration of this model's condenser motor to allow it to operate at lower temperatures, increasing the life of the motor and bearings. And, the fan housing is made of heavy-gauge zinc galvanized steel and painted to protect it from rust.
User-Friendly Installation Detachable adaptors, firmly secured duct ends, adjustable mounting brackets (up to 26"), fan/motor units that detach easily from the housing and uncomplicated wiring all lend themselves to user-friendly installation. This model also features a double-hanger bar system for ideal positioning.
Energy Star® Qualified for Energy Savings Energy Star qualified products feature super-quiet operation and high CFM-to-Watt efficiency. The Energy Star program was created to help consumers identify products that can save them money and protect the environment by saving energy. As an Energy Star partner, all our fans are Energy Star qualified and labeled accordingly.
Tired of Cold Air Coming Through Your Ventilation Fan? This Panasonic fan has a built-in damper to prevent backdraft, which helps to prevent outside air from coming through the fan. Also, thanks to our efficient, cool running motors and fluorescent bulbs, it does not create excessive heat-a common problem with recessed lighting fixtures and some competitors' fan/light combinations. Loose fill or batt insulation can be placed directly over the fan housing to prevent heat from escaping.

I was very glad I got this exhaust fan for my bathroom after checking out all my options at [...] Both stores didn't carry this brand and the specialty stores in our area that did wanted the big bucks. At bathroomfanexperts.com, I got the what I believe was just the right price ($145) for this kind & quality. This fan solved all our bathroom venting needs. Together with the Broan roof ducting kit & a short run of (1.5 ft) aluminum tube (and don't forget to apply spray foam insulation on all your attic to roof ducting to prevent condensation!)our bathroom is now always moisture-free! The unit is light so putting this thing up in the limited (3 ft crawl space) work area in our attic really helped! The grill is so easy to detach & reattach to adjust the CFM & timer settings. The motion sensor feature made the electrical connections way simpler! And I love the green light! I'll always remember NTI for my remodelling needs!

The fan was installed by an expert, so I don't know how difficult it might be to install. The appearance of the fan is subtle and it is quieter than any fan I have known. I don't think that it is powerful enough to put anywhere except a small room like a bathroom. I can't say much about the function of the fan because it is in an unfinished house. Perhaps, I will be able to write another review when I have had a chance to use it. Anne

We install fan for weatherization projects. This fan is great for retrofit and all araound fan. Seals up tight for air infiltration, is very quiet, and needs only a power lead and your done. No fishing switches and you can set it to run for 10 mn after clients leave reducing moisture problems. This is the only fan I install.

Not really designed for remodel/retrofit but it did install easily once I got the old one out. I was very impressed with how quiet this fan really is. I bought this unit specifically because it allowed the fan to run at 30 CFM when no one was in the room.

Instructions are a bit vague for existing installs, but unit works well and is fairly quiet. I think the 0.3 sones is for the constant speed at 20 cfm, because at 80cfm it is a bit noisy. Access from above is best. Place it next to a rafter, cut the hole 1/4-3/8" larger than box dimensions (not flange). Place fan outlet adapter in the opening (remember to install mounting leg1st), then slide fan up and in place. Secure to rafter with 2 drywall screws. Get into attic and remove top 2 screws from rear mounting leg bracket, and loosen lower screws. Install proper mounting leg, install/tighten screws. Be sure the fan adapter is locked into place. Expand legs to fit rafter opening, lift fan flush to ceiling, and install screws through legs into rafters. Hookup power, neutral, and ground .... bob's your uncle!

Tough client and tough renovation - installed in a 1925 house with plaster lath ceilings and limited electrical access. With a motion sensor, this fan didn't need a wall switch so it saved us a lot of time on electrical work. The unit cost is less than a fan + wall switch/motion sensor and it runs almost silently. Definitely the best fan I could have specified.
Comments aboutPanasonic WhisperGreen Continuous Operation Bathroom Fan with Motion Sensor FV-08VKM2:
I bought this fan to install in a bathroom to vent shower condensation. I wanted an bathroom fan that would automatically turn on when needed, this made it possible to install the fan without running wiring for a switch. I simply wired to fan into a GFCI branch I had installed in my attic. The fan is designed for continuous operation so when no motion is detected, the fan spins at a lower rate. At this lower rate it is nearly silent. At the higher full fan rate, it is audible but I cannot hear it over the shower noise. The only con I can think of is that its designed to run continuously, which seems as if it would exhaust much of the heat from my home during the winter.
