Non-programmable Honeywell unit installed with the new system. I travel a lot and decided to try a programmable thermostat. It was EASY to install and the setup was literally - "STEP BY STEP" - if you can read and follow instructions, you can install this unit, set it up for your system AND make decisions such as "Do I want constant backlighting?" or "Do I want the auto-shift feature heat to cold and vice versa?" From the time I opened the box until the house was on the new programmable unit was probably two hours and most of THAT was figuring out my schedule to program into the unit. Installation & setup was completed within 40 minutes with me going 'step by step'.

We had researched (and tried) a number of thermostats prior to this purchase. Since we installed a new Bryant furnace and AC this past year, we wanted to upgrade the stat as well. This unit holds the house temp VERY close to what it is set at and is super easy to adjust. It is a little spendy, but it is worth every penny.

I needed a thermostat that would take care of a 3-heat 2-cool dual fuel heat pump with a variable compressor and variable 95 percent furnace. This thermostat simplified the whole system and was easy to install and setup. When I replace my downstairs system I'll get the same kind from Prothermostats.

I've never installed a thermostat on a heat pump system, but replacement of an old 20 year old mercury thermostat was fairly straight forward. I labeled the wires, took off the old thermostat, attached the mounting plate, attached the wires, and then snapped in the thermostat. Switching the setup menu 170 to 7 was all that was needed to activate the thermostat for the 2 stage heat 1 stage cool system. Programming the thermostat was simple enough that my wife who's not a geek could easily do with the directions from the user manual. Only con is that it is programmable and you have to read the manual to understand all the programming features. It works much better that the old thermostat.

I used this to replace an old Honeywell unit that finally died on me. (Honeywell itself was no help in diagnosing that problem!) I have a two-zone system with heat and cool on each. 24 VAC power is supplied by the furnace. This unit worked right out of the box and was very easy to program and set. Installation was straight-forward. I have some single-zone thermostats to replace and may well go with the single-zone version of this one.
