Comments about Fantech COM6M Supply/Exhaust Hood Combo for 6" Duct:

I used the COM6M vents to replace the dual-duct system that came with my hepa filter. This, however, required cutting another 6" DIA hole in the side of the house. I made the second (exhaust) hole 10' away. I like having separate intake and exhaust locations because I think it is a simpler and more robust.

The COM6M vents are well designed. I improved the installation a bit, however, by sealing the joints with Master Flow Air Duct Sealant, swapping the two galvanized screws for stainless steel screws, and on the intake vent I swapped the galvanized steel mesh for a stainless steel welded mesh (same spacing, .032" wire) which I purchased from TWP in California. Switching to stainless was probably unnecessary, but I wanted everything to last forever since the location is hard to access.

Note that you have to drill your own holes through the aluminum body for attaching to the house. I used stainless screws and washers. The aluminum top cover is then replaced and the two screws are inserted. I also used aluminum tape over the flange edges on the inside of the house to soften the edges for the flex duct attachment. Rolled edges would have been better for flex duct, but probably ok even without the tape.

Overall a very good product, especially for the price.
