The pump on the humidifier wasn't turning on in conjunction with the furnace blower motor. i had to manually turn it on and the hum it made was annoying. I checked the OLD relay with a meter and found it defective probably due to the fact that the guys who installed the new furnace wired the relay into TWO (24-volt) sources and must have fried it. I removed the OLD relay and all of its wiring and rewired the NEW relay as the diagram indicated on APRILAIRE's website and I also eliminated the second 24-volt transformer. THE NEW RELAY WORKS AS ADVERTISED, and only turns on when the blower motor turns on. The HOUSE is WARM again.

24 vs. 120 Volt

I accidently purchased the 24 volt sensing relay. I thought it would work fine on the 120 volt supply wire to the HVAC motor, but it doesn't appear to work. I figured if it senses 24 volts, why not 120? Is there another location I can anchor it to that will trigger 24 volts when the system is on or do I need to buy a 120 volt sensor instead?

I needed this switch to get my whole house humidifier working I purchased late last winter. Ordered the relay, installed and it immediately went to work. The part was easy enough to install, not the best set of instructions regarding different possible setups but I managed to find what I needed easily enough on the internet. Would shop here again for any of my humidifier needs.

Replacing a burned out PC board did not complete the fix. Additionally it required only a very quick replacement of the Current Relay and the humidifier was operating once again.
