Comments about American Aldes Aldes 4" Backdraft Damper - BDD4: I had to take the spring out and turn it around and add another twist. After that it worked great and I could notice the difference right away in the bathroom that always had a breeze in it from the exhaust fan. Comments about American Aldes Aldes 4" Backdraft Damper - BDD4: Have tried many Backdraft Dampers in the past, with limited success. Found the inner spring and flap poorly constructed, not so with Aldes 4" Damper. Also the set-up is fast. A VERY GOOD PRODUCT. Comments about American Aldes Aldes 4" Backdraft Damper - BDD4: I bought fantech inline fans but opted for the Aldes inline dampers for an extra buck or two. And am I glad I did. These are really cool, work flawlessly, and fit seemlessly into my 4 inch duct lines in a dual inline bath fan application keeping backdrafts a thing of the past. These have a foam collar that fits snugly into the ductline and form a tight seal. A well-engineered butterlfy valve and spring open while exhausting shower steam and after dinner methane while shutting out mother nature. Would buy again, and would advise you to do the same. Comments about American Aldes Aldes 4" Backdraft Damper - BDD4: I used this for a FanTech installation on a bathroom. At first, I thought it was rather expensive. After installation, I thought about the cost of years of cold air infiltrating my bathroom, and came to the conclusion that it is a very inexpensive solution to a persistant problem--it works like a champ! Cons Best Uses Comments about American Aldes Aldes 4" Backdraft Damper - BDD4: I installed three of these duct dampers when I completely replaced the uninsullated bathroom fan plastic dryer vent stuff with solid 4" metal ducting. Each of the dampers replaced the terrible little plastic flap that didn't stop backdrafts at all!! I placed the new duct dampers about 2 feet from the fan's outlet inside a piece of the 4" metal duct on the way 15 more feet to my roof vents. Comments about American Aldes Aldes 4" Backdraft Damper - BDD4: easy to install and works great. Its the solution to the flimsy plastic flaps in most bathroom vent fans. It sounded like someone was trying to break into our house from the attic. I installed the backdraft dampers in the ductwork and no more noise. The dampers are well made, easy to install, and do their job well. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful? Cons Best Uses Comments about American Aldes Aldes 4" Backdraft Damper - BDD4: Inserted into neck of verically mounted Fantech PBV4 Grille(included flapper valve would not work at this angle). Had to add some additional weather strip to fit correctly into duct neck. Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Was this review helpful?
