Merv 7 is right in the middle in ratings I change them once a month so I'm good for at least one year w/ a box of 12. 12x20 is an odd size and is not available in most hardware stores. So this is perfect for my situation

My variable speed furnace blower really cranked up its speed to compensate for the high pressure drop across these filters. The increased noise was very noticeable and, I felt, unacceptable.
In a fixed speed application, I wonder if there would be sufficient air flow to prevent freezing of the A-C evaporator coil.
The effects noted above were far greater than I noticed on another brand (much more expensive) of MERV 8 pleated, 1" filter. I scrapped the entire dozen (actually 2 dozen since I purchased 2 sizes) and installed non-pleated, "throwaway" filters despite their lower performance.

We have an old home and can no longer find the 12x20 air filters for our home. We were buying larger ones and cutting them to fit. When we were having the A/C ducts repaired, our repairman mentioned buying online. DUH! I googled and found this site. The prices were really great and, more importantly, they had the size we needed. Now we know where to get our filters.
