The Filtrete® Elite Allergen Reduction Filter carries a 3M Microparticle Performance Rating (MPR) of 2200 - roughly equivalent to a MERV 13 rating
- Meets the American Lung Association® Health House® Indoor Air Quality Guidelines
- Uses an electrostatically charged media to attract and filter debris found in your home
- With normal use, this filters material will not support the growth of mold, mildew, fungi, or bacteria. Does not contain unnecessary antimicrobial chemicals
Removes large and microscopic allegens including:
- Pet dander
- Mold spores

MPR COMPARED TO MERV RATING?
The Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry uses the ASHRAE 52.2 Standard, which assigns a Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) to a filter. The MERV reports a filter's ability to capture particles between 1 and 10 microns. When comparing the performance of different filters, it is helpful to use the MERV rating. The MERV rating is limited though because only about 1% of your indoor air contaminants are greater than 1 micron.
The Microparticle Performance Rating (MPR) measures submicron particles between .3 and 1.0 micron. 3M's MPR is able to measure a filters capacity to capture those submicron particles such as smoke, smog and bacteria. This is valuable because submicron particles make up 99% of the particles in the air, making the MPR a better reporting value.
