I had to use a 14mm Metric Tap with 1.25 thread pitch.
e.g. Vermont American 21152 14MM-1.25
I tried all the standard and metric thread checkers at local hardware store and it was the only one that worked.

Good design, needs to be installed vertically. Has a lip inside to catch any water dripping down the inside of the pipe and diverts it to below the fan motor.

This is a simple, cleverly designed unit for reducing the amount of condensation in an inline fan. It also appears to have little effect on air flow; both are great features for my radon mitigation system. However, to install this unit you need to have a properly sized tap for cutting threads in the lower pipe section. This tapped hole is used to install the lower hose barb. Most DIY homeowners wouldn't have this particular size so you may need to spend a few more $$ and take a trip to the hardware store to get the right tap. If the unit had been supplied with a pre-tapped PVC collar, I'd give it 5 stars. When winter comes, I'll find out how well the condensation bypass feature works.

Product was easy to install with provided directions. Everything I needed including the tubing and insulation was in the kit. I painted the bypass coupler along with the rest of the system to match the siding of my house. It blends in very well.

I saw a couple of homemade bypasses in pictures on the internet, but they all involved cutting and trimming and re-trimming pieces of aluminum or pvc - then you use lots of caulk - and they looked to me like they blocked airflow. This was a simple, easy-to-install solution.
