It took a total of 45 minutes to remove my old thermostate, install and setup the new Focus Pro 6000. I have been using this thermostat for 3 weeks and feel safe in saying it is the best I have ever had. I would definatly recomend this thermostate to anyone wishing to upgrade from the old mechanical type thermostate.

This is a wonderful programmable thermostat but not for the average homeowner. The box specifically states that it MUST BE INSTALLED BY A PROFESSIONAL. I have installed programmable thermostats in my homes before but the instructions with this one require training in advanced HVAC.

Installation was very easy using the wiring diagram that came with the furnace (A two stage Trane with a single stage AC) and the directions that came with the thermostat. Programming is intuitive and should be adequate for most home owners. The hold button allows a set temp to be maintained and bypasses the program schedule until it is disabled by the user (ie vacations etc.) It holds the tempurature within less than one degree. Very pleased.

I installed this thermostat in a large home with dual Trane gas furnaces and an air conditioner. The Trane furnaces have 2 heat settings, which made it tricky to find a replacement for the original non-program Trane 'stat. The TH6220D was a perfect replacement. I was careful to label each wire with its original post first, then it was a simple matter to match up the proper location in the new 'stat.
Initial setup and programming was by the book and went without a hitch. Due to the flexibility of configurations that this device can control, and the seperate settings for 5/1/1 or 5/2 schedules, setup can be quite lengthy. But all of this can be done off-base, sitting in a comfortable chair, then mounting on the base when you're done. Built-in tests to make sure everything is working as planned are also very convenient.
Finally, operation couldn't be much more intuitive. If we need to bump the temp up or down a few degrees for temporary condition (grandma visiting, house full of people, etc.) the scheduled temp will be back in place the next day. And if we leave town for a few days, we just set a temperature and press 'Hold', which bypasses all schedules. Couldn;t be much easier!
