This high quality "generic" product is manufactured using the same process as the OEM pads it replaces. The materials are identical. The water panel is constructed using an expanded metal mesh covered with a special coating that absorbs water and removes mineral deposits.
For best performance, change at least once per season, maybe more depending on water conditions and frequency of use.

Looks like there is a color scheme on the filter to tell you when to change it, but there were no instructions. Other than that, we just change the filters when the humidifier starts running continuously.
