Braeburn Model 2000NC 1 Heat/1 Cool Tamper Proof Programmable Thermostat. Includes same setpoint limiting feature as models 1000NC and 2200NC.
This thermostat was specifically designed to help owners/managers of "all utilities paid" apartments. A two-step setpoint limiting process insures that temp limits will stay in effect.
The digital programmable thermostat shall be a BraeburnŽ, model number 2000NC, 3.75" high x 4.94" wide x 1.19" deep, powered by two "AA" Alkaline batteries (3.0 Volt DC) with 5-2 day programming. The thermostat shall be compatible with single stage gas, oil or electric heating or cooling systems including single stage heat pumps and 250mv - 750mv millivolt heating systems. The thermostat shall have a bright blue backlight display, front loading battery door and separate sub-base for trouble free installation. Temperature control range shall be between 45° and 90° F (7° and 32° C), accuracy of +/- 1° F (+/- .5° C), humidity range between 5% and 95% relative humidity. The thermostat shall include non-volatile memory to retain user settings, filter check monitor, adaptive recovery mode (ARMT) and separate heating and cooling set point program times and temperatures. A front reset button will return user settings to default values when pressed. The thermostat can be mounted to a horizontal junction box.

immediately reduced oil usage in rental units, but be ready for tenant complaints, no more barefoot in shorts with the heat on 82 degrees and the windows open when it's freezing outside. The temp lock feature works and tenants haven't figured out how to beat it yet like they did with other thermostats. Setting the program could be a little easier. Regular delivery came earlier than shown on the website too so that's a plus.

I suppose that nothing is completely tamper-proof to someone who is motivated and intelligent but this thermostat is the best one that I have found yet. The settings are simple enough for a majority of renters and the heating (and cooling) limits can be easily set by the landlord/manager IF you know the process. This process seems to have been kept off of the web since I have yet to find an explanation of the steps. It also has a great setting that limits how long the "HOLD" button will override the programmed settings. The only inclusion that I wish it had is the ability to lock the daily programs as well.

I haven't gotten an oil bill yet, but I suspect that since they can't put the temp up to 90 anymore I will see a huge savings. One thing I did was to add tamper proof warranty stickers to each of the four thermostats I installed. This ensures that the units cannot be opened if the tenant buys one just to get the instructions on how to program it or if they want try to touch the wires together to keep the boiler running. Install was simple. Looks hi tech. Seems well made. The day/night feature is especially useful because you can program it to go even lower when they are sleeping or out of the house. It also controls AC, but I didn't need that. I would recommend this product even if you do not have a problem with tenants. With all it's features and low price it is an excellent buy and you will save in the long run.

Simple install on a 2-wire gas fired 24V base board heating system only. Supplied back plate mounted to the drywall with screw anchors,secured wires and snap unit on. Functions as advertised. Good value!

I wanted to buy a thermostat for my rental property in Costa Rica. This is being used strictly for air conditioning. The thermostat came with clear and easily understood instructions. I bought this to restrict anyone from setting the A/C below a temperature of my choice. No longer will a renter set the temperature to 65 in order "to cool the house down faster" LOL!!!!

Replaced old-style rotary upstairs and downstairs thermostats at home. These were very easy to install and now it's the right temperature when I go downstairs on a morning and I don't worry about remembering to adjust controls at night. Just like a commercial for something completely different 'Just set it and forget it.'
