The aftermarket Supco WF286 is used in refrigerators by Amana, Kenmore and others. It is designed to replace the Whirlpool PUR Filter (8171413 / NL200). The WF286 filter creates better tasting water for drinking and making beverages as well as clean, clearer, healthy ice.

I was afraid to get this item because I have an 8 year old fridge and wasn't sure this filter would fit, though it said it was compatible. The filter was considerably less expensive than the Name Brand and it works wonderfully. I had not used my fridge water in about 6 months because my old filter was so old the water tasted awful. I finally decided to break down and buy a filter because I started a new diet plan and committed myself to 8 glasses of water per day and just couldn't see myself drinking that much sink water or buying tons of bottled water. Well it only took one 64 oz jug of water to clear the stale water from the line and rid the line of that stale taste and smell....Now I drink more than the 8 glasses I committed to and am enjoying every drop!
