Not intuitive to install, not impossible for homeowner just instructions are for a professional. I already installed a cheaper model and used those directions to install. You could probably download instructions for a cheaper model and follow those instructions for this one. This is a very complex thermostat that can be used for too many application for the manufacturer to give install instructions for every instance. Good luck, you will be plesantly ($) surprised at the benefits of using the pre programmed adjustments. I even adjusted them lower for more cost savings. If your family objects they can adjust when neccessary, and it will bump it down at the next cycle.

Easy to adjust and provides the options needed to control the temp 24 hrs a day, each day of the week. A little difficult to understand Manual and hard to change the Settings!

Installed to control my house. Single Heat/Cool. House was not insulated the best when built and have had extreme issues with different rooms being different temps. The consistancy and flexibility of this is awesome! I am an industrial controls manager and deal with touchscreens everyday. Very well put together, easy to install! The only drawback (which really isn't) is the display takes a second to light up when its been asleep (I'm impatient!)

The instructions led me to believe that I would need an electrician. When I started it myself I was amazed at how easy it was to install. It is doing an amazing job of temperature control in our home. I am very pleased with the progammable thermostat.

We have a solar hot air system that need the fan on continually during daylight hours, then return to "Auto" after dark. The 4-period programming, with the ability to control the fan within each of these 4 periods was just what we were looking for. Additionally, we find the touch sensitive display very easy to use (I'm the techie - my non-techie wife set up the basic 4 periods without assistance (using the instructions). Overall, a great unit.

Just took the two wires off fo my old Honeywell thermostat and attached them to the same letters on the new one - that easy. Need to use manual once to set up initially then it is pretty easy to adjust down the road. [...]

This thermostat replaced an earlier installation of a "value" unit where the physical control buttons had become difficult to use. Following the installation instructions, the unit went in easily and looks good. The backlit display is great - the touchscreen setup is straightforward, and setting modifications is quite easy. The only option that I cannot use is the fan "Circulate" mode as I don't have the fan relay wire run from the furnace to the thermostat - but that is my problem. Overall, everything is fine, and the home is reliably warm and comfy.

Too hard to pull front part from back part attached to wall. When held to wall only by screws into drywall, just pulling it could easily pull the screws right out. I had to use screwdrivers as levers to avoid this. You need to add some kind of simple release mechanism.

Hard to read when powered by batteries. In my installation there was no return wire for current to return to low side of Xformer. That is because for many years thermostats were not expected to draw any power themselves. It is a lot of work to now add another wire down through the wall to the furnace in the basement!!

I always wondered why someone could not make a thermostat that could do both air conditioning and heating without having to manually switchover.Here in wyoming you can wake up needing heat and by the afternoon you need air conditioning.This thermostat will do just that.I Noticed that my furnace will run more often but for shorter periods. Nice thermostat. Easy to install. Generally easy to program, but editing settings could be improved just a bit. Part of that is because the time period of screen illumination is too short. I would buy this again.

Although it said it should be installed "professionally" I found it easy to install. [...]You need to read the installation guide and programming instructions carefully. The main selling point for me was the "Recirc" fan feature. It really keeps the house temp even. It should work great this winter.

This installed very easily to replace my existing device. Wiring was a piece of cake. The only drawback, and not a huge one, is that there aren't multiple programs. In other words, you can set for the week, but if you want to go away for the weekend, vacation, etc., you have to either hold the temperature or turn it off.

We had a professionally installed Honeywell thermostat in our last home. Couldn't find one in retail outlets so installed a RiteTemp in our newly purchased home. It was awful after having the Honeywell. The RiteTemp would vary three degrees both up and down for a total of 6 degrees so we were either cold or hot. The Honeywell is precise and runs very efficiently. It was also extremely easy to install. Never again will we settle for anything less.

Installed the thermostat in a two bdrm condo. Unit was easy to install for someone mechanically inclined. No drilling required; it fit on the box to which the old mercury thermostat was attached. The scheduling took a couple of tries to get right - the manual doesn't explain it 100% - but once we figured it out, we got exactly what we wanted. The other controls were fairly easy to operate (switching between Heat, Cool and Off; changing temp; etc) but keep the manual handy in case it doesn't work. The circulation feature (which runs the fan about 35% of the time) is a fantastic extra. Recommended.

The first thermostat failed to initiate the heating cycle. After communication regarding the problem, a second thermostat was shipped and it failed to initiate the heating cycle. A third thermostat was sent and it has worked without any problems for either heating or cooling. The auto-switch from heat to cool is very convenient for spring days that start cool and finish warm.

It took me some time to understand how the embedded codes control the various functions of the thermostat (see my comment regarding importance or reading the instructions). Once I got that done, it was a piece of cake to set up.

We needed to replace our 35 plus year old thermostats at our church that involved a two stage furnace and air conditioning. The best features about this thermostat in a public environment are: Able to Lock controls at two levels of restriction, ability to limit temperature settings (so no one can set the heat to 80º to "make a room get warm faster"), ability to "learn" how quickly a system gets to the heat or cool temperature, so it accommodates that and starts the furnace or A/C early to reach the set temperature at the pre determined time. (meaning, no need to guess how early to set the time for heating or cooling to be called; it eliminates the guesswork).

I could go on, but I was so impressed with them after installing them in our church, I bought one for my home. I am not a professional installer, and it was VERY easy to install.

Installed in our church on a hot water system. Seven zones, each with its own thermostat and each with a different program. Each is working fine and the set-backs are saving money on our gas bill. The thermostats are easily, intuitively programmed. Can be easily locked and unlocked to protect the program but can be temporarily over-ridden easily.

I purchased this programmable unit at the recommendation of an HVAC service person who installed a new Heat pump for us. Although I intended to install it myself the HVAC person offered to do it without charge. I watched him install the unit and it seemed easy enough. The instructions for operation are comprehensive and clear, and the unit works as advertised. We are quite pleased with its performance, and for what it does it is worth the price.

This thermostat non only runs our antique boiler and separate A/C system, it runs the A/C fan during the winter to mix the upstairs/downstairs air that I previously did manually.
I had asked computer experts how to do this, all said it SHOULD be possible, but this unit does it. Easy to install, plug and play, and this is my first thermostat. Couldn't be easier or better, and the Honeywell name on it really makes a difference.

Has a very obvious feature that is great for homes that use setbacks a lot or where ambient temperatures fluctuate a lot... this product allows the user to set it to circulate the air in the house periodically REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT THE THERMOSTAT TEMPERATURE CALLS FOR HEAT OR COOLING. At night, I have my thermostat set to reduce the heating/cooling load but, as the house heats/cools without the furnace/air conditioner running, parts of the house get very hot or cold. The thermostat only responds to the part of the house where the thermostat is UNLESS you have this periodic circulation feature which serves to even the house temperature out. I have been looking for this obvious feature for years. Great idea and so obviously simple.

I checked out all programmable thermostats available online and this alone had the flexibility I needed. This house has a steam system and this thermostat can be programmed to fire up no more than once per hour which improves boiler efficiency greatly. You can also install a remote temperature sensor where you spend the most time, not where the thermostat is.

I purchased this product because I recently became a Landlord by force. The house I was selling has not sold so I had to find tenants. The Thermostat was located in the unit that is to be occupied by the Homeowner therefore the tenants had control of the heat. I found the thermostat set at 82 degrees. Now with this system I have regained control of the thermostat, now it is set at 67. This product is great because you can set the theromstat up anywhere in the property away from the tenants access.
