Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
I have a ranch home with a 3200 sq. ft. unfinished basement 9-0 high ceilings that also includes a 500 sq. ft. crawl space. I had only one smaller dehumidifier which quit working after 3 years, I new I really needed at least two. After talking to a couple of my neighbors of what they were using, both of them had two of the smaller types of dehumidifiers running all the time. After researching some more I couldn't see wasting my money on the smaller types. I looked at it as an investment not what's cheaper at the time, what's going to hold up in the long run, and which will save me money in the long run. And that's why I bought a Santa Fe Max Dry , this a peice of equipment not a toy. Within a matter of a few days it brought my basement from 75% to 50% humidity now it just goes on to maintain, I couldn't be more satisfied. I also like the fact that it can be duct out of my furnace room, and it was built in the USA!

While it took me a while to accept that this is what I would have to pay for a dehumidifier that would actually work for my 2600 sqft basement, I must admit that it is a must have for any large or damp basement. Our entire house is more comfortable and our dry food doesn't stale as fast in the summer time. The unit is pretty large, but I bought the wheel kit so it moves easily. This particular one cannot really be put against the wall on any of the four sides, one side is the air intake, two sides exhasut air and the fourth side has controls on it. We currently just have it sitting out in the middle of the floor.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
I have a 1400 SF basement with 8' ceilings that was very damp. It took this unit about a day and a half to drop the humidity from 70% down to 45%. Maintaining the 45% seems effortless and the unit runs far less often than the one it replaces. It is fairly quiet but you can hear it turn on and off if you are in the basement. You can't hear it at all from the first floor. I previously used the cheaper small units that you can purchase at [...]. They would run almost continously and could barely get the humidity down to 60%. They would also break down in a year or so and have to be replaced. My only complaint with the new unit was that the drain is on the bottom edge of the case and even with the optional casters it was several inches below the top of my existing condensate pump. I put a stack of 2x4's under the legs and that fixed the problem but now the installation looks sloppy and the casters are pointless. I went back and looked at the condensate pump kit specific to this unit and the picture shows the same issue - the hose comes out of the unit and then runs UP a couple of inches and then down into the pump. I hated to deduct a full star for such a minor problem but I just couldn't call it perfect. Consider my actual rating 4.8 stars.

We recently moved our business to a warehouse thatturned out to be more humid than we realized. We were concerned that our inventory would be ruined. [...]very easy to set up. Our humidity problem has been solved and we are very happy with our purchase.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
I installed the dehumidifier in the crawl space of my 3000 SF home and also completly sealed off the crawl. The crawl space had been staying at 90% humidity. Three weeks later the humidity is down to 59%. Seems to be doing the job. Install was pretty simple, only complaint I have is where the adjustable legs screw into the frame is pretty flimsy so if you have the legs screwed way out the unit is pretty shaky. Best to screw them all the way in and raise unit up on blocks to get it off the ground.

[...]. It is a very solid piece of equipment. We had it up and running within a couple of hours, and most of that time was spent installing the condensate pump and drain line. We have put it in our daylight basement next to our furnace, but have not connected it to the ductwork. It has pulled the humidity down in the house substantially. The only negative is the noise - which may be just the air movement, since our furnace is also about as noisy. It is perfectly OK in our basement but I would consider carefully before installing it in a main living area.

Fantastic machine! Have checked output many times and cosistently pulling over 150 pints/day out of a crawl space that recently started getting wet due to record rainfall. Have recorded over 205 pints/day at times. Too early to check cost of operation--but it does the job, in spades. Highest recommendation.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
Great product. Basically plug it in and let it perform it's job. I have no complaints at all and has been effective in drying and maintaining a 45 to 50 percent humidity level (from consistent 80%) in my 2200 sqare foot basement throughout the humid summer months.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
I use the Santa Fe Max Dry in the basement of my house. The unit can remove an amazing amount of water from the air in a very short time.
I very much like the Santa Fe Dry Max and would buy it again. It does a a great job keeping my basement and house moisture free.
The unit is on the loud side because it moves a substantial amount of air. However, it makes more of a humming noise rather than the awful rattle that my previous dehumidifier made.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
Bought this unit to control high humidity, and associated mold problem in large basement. [...]A little tricky for one person to get down stairs (but can be done). After installing drain hose, and plugging it in, turned it on about 6 months ago, and have not turned it off since. Has reduced the humidity in the basement from ~65% to ~45%, apparently without "breaking a sweat".At low temperatures, the unit is not as efficient as the room temperature specs suggest. In particular, at 55-65 degrees, the unit does not remove nearly the rate of water as the listed spec (I think this is physics, but having more detailed specs, showing rate of water removal at different ambient air temps would have allowed me to better estimate electricity costs). Still, unit does the job, and does not suffer problems from condensation freezing on the coil that lower cost consumer models did. Overall, I am very happy with this purchas.

The Santa Fe Max is extremely effective at removing excess humidity from the air. The humidity setting can be adjusted to meet your particular needs and the unit is surprisingly quiet. It has turned my previously damp, musty basement into a useable space again.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
We identified this to be the unit most applicable for our job because of its high volume of air transfer, and are very pleased that it was chosen.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
Keeps an approximately 27,000 cubic foot basement dry, and filters the air well (around 3,000 sf basement with about 9 foot ceiling). Could be a bit more quiet.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
When I bought the Santa Fe Max Dry I wondered how loud it would be and how much of the time it would run. I found that it is very quiet, much quieter than the central HVAC system. Tucked away in a mechanical room, no one will ever hear it. I also found it is very efficient. It does not run all the time. It does a great job on my 3500 sq. ft. basement. I had relative humidity levels of around 65% (measured by 3 different hygrometers) and it quickly brought those down to my setting of 50% and has since kept them there. My electric bill didn't even go up. I spoke to an engineer at Santa Fe when installing it and they were extremely helpful. It was easy to hook it to a Honeywell remote humidistat and plumb it into the main HVAC ducting. And now it does its job quietly without ever being noticed. It removes an amazing amount of moisture. I did a lot of research before buying, and as far as whole house dehumidifiers go, I believe the Santa Fe Max Dry is the best one available based on energy usage, fan CFM, and square footage covered.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
I had high humidity in my basement. I have purchased 3 dehumidifiers from the home improvement stores before I purchased the Santa Fe. All 3 dehumidifiers would run constantly and the humidity would never go below 65%. They would die within 2 years and I would have to buy another one.
Not only did the Santa Fe easily lower my humidity levels in my basement to less than 45%. It hardly runs compared to the other dehumidifiers. So my electric bill dropped by about $100 a month. The Santa Fe is definitely worth the money!

I use the Santa Fe Max in our warehouse for hardwood flooring and lumber. we can heat our 10,000 sq ft warehouse to about 58 to 60 degrees and our unit takes the humidity down from about 55 to 60% down to 40 to 45%.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
I am using this dehumidifier in my detached garage to keep the humidity in our RV's down to prevent mold. The garage is 1800 sq. feet, but has a 18 foot ceiling height, so it is equal to about a 3600 sq foot building with a 9 foot ceiling height. We live in South Florida with high humidity and it has keep the garage to 40% at all times of the year. I have been running the unit in the garage for about 1 year and have been very pleased with its performance.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Max Dry Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4027450):
I'm just a simple homeowner and I used a Santa Fe dehumidifier to solve a moisture problem in my crawlspace. Instead of paying between 10-20k to a contractor, I did the work myself for a small fraction of the price.
