The HI-E DRY 100 removes 6.8 pints of water per kilowatt hour at 80°F and 60% RH, while the industry average remains at only two to three pints. The high-efficiency design of the HI-E DRY 100 offers more than just dramatically reduced utility costs. The larger water removal capacity from a smaller, more efficient refrigeration system eliminates the need for 220 volt circuits in many applications. The smaller refrigeration system allows the HI-E DRY 100 to cost less than other commercial dehumidifiers of equal capacity. The HI-E DRY Model 100 features a dehumidistat controller with settings from 20 to 80 percent relative humidity and a positive "on" and "off" setting. A blower switch permits continuous blower operation independent of dehumidification. The unit is portable and has four casters. The internal condensate pump is capable of lifting condensate 17 feet, and 20 feet of condensate hose is included. The unit's 6 ft. power cord that plugs into a 115 volt receptacle with ground. 1.R-410a refrigerant vs R-22
2.5 year guarantee on compressor /sealed components vs 1 to 3 year guarantee by others
3.Simpler relay controls vs electronic controller
4.Published performance data available at reduced temperatures that we may see in our basement

We selected the HI-E-DRY 100 vs other ThermaStor models:

1.Has defrost timer function to allow operation at lower temperature. We expect to see 50 F in the basement in spring and fall months.

I have an incredibly wet, damp, cold basement in a house in the northwoods of Wisconsin. Condensation was a special problem; in the spring, I'd occasinally have 1-2 inches of water in the basement. I researched a variety of products, and this is the one that I chose because of its efficiency and ability to work in colder areas. Am I glad I did! It's great! I haven't gotten an electric bill yet, so I can't comment on energy efficiency, but everything else is great.

This unit is smaller than it appears in the pictures. However, it does take up a fair amount of room once you leave sufficient room behind the unit for airflow.

You may want to purchase the muffler, if you use this in an area where you plan on working.

We love the powerful, effective humidity control in our basement. The added muffler allows for undisturbed sleeping. We also have the added benefit of improved air circulation in our basement! No more worries of emptying buckets full of water multiple times a a day. The pump is powerful.

I use it in a small datacenter. It replace 3 less efficient units and uses less electricity than a single cheap unit. The unit is loud but still quiter than the other units and with the sound of the rest of the computer fans is un-noticable.
