The Santa Fe Rx operates much more quietly than the Santa Fe, making it an ideal choice for offices, residences, schools, and libraries. The smooth white cabinet creates a versatile dehumidifier that is suitable with any decor. The internal condensate pump and 20 feet of drain hose add extra convenience, allowing you to direct water outside or to a suitable sink or drain. Extremely efficient, the Santa Fe Rx removes more pints of water per kilowatt of electricity than most other residential dehumidifiers. The Santa Fe Rx, if desired, provides a secondary filter housing which can be connected to the back. This housing can hold your choice of HEPA, carbon plus pleated media, or high efficient (95%) filters, all of which remove dust and other airborne allergens. Santa Fe Rx features a free-standing design provides high efficiency humidity control and air filtration to areas up to 2,200 square feet. The Santa Fe Rx utilizes refrigeration to cool the incoming air stream below its dew point as it passes through the dehumidification (evaporator) coil. This cooling results in the removal of moisture (latent heat) and reduction of the temperature (sensible heat). The cooled and dried air is used to pre-cool the incoming air stream resulting in up to a 200 percent increase in overall efficiency. After the pre-cooling stage the processed air is reheated by passing through the condenser coil. The latent heat removed by the evaporator coil is returned to the air stream at this stage as sensible heat, resulting in an overall increase in temperature from the incoming air. Features: The standard air filtration is provided by a pleated polyester and cotton blend media filter located at the air intake at the top of the unit. The efficiency rating of this filter is 40% in the ASHRAE 52-76 Dust Spot Test. The optional HEPA filter is a micro-glass paper mini-pleat filter located in a special housing mounted on the back of the Santa Fe Rx cabinet. The efficiency rating of this filter is 99.97% on the D.O.P. test. The Santa Fe Rx is controlled by a dehumidistat with positive "ON" and "OFF" settings and a variable setting range from "20%" to "80%". The Santa Fe Rx has a built-in defrost system that is designed for operation down to 55°F - however, unit is designed to run in environments 70°F and higher. The unit contains a blower switch that permits continuous blower operation for filtration, independent of dehumidification. The Santa Fe Rx is portable and provided with four casters. The unit contains a condensate pump and 20 feet of drain hose. The wiring of the unit is through a factory installed six foot power cord; 115 volt with ground. Specifications: Blower: 230 CFM @ 0 IWG Kilowatts: 0.68 (80°F, 60% RH) Supply Voltage: 115 volt - 1 phase - 60 Hz Energy Factor: - 2.45 L / kWh Intake Air: 80°F, 60% RH Water Removal: 74 Pints/Day Pints/KWH: 5.2 Amps: 5.4 Drain Hose: 3/16" ID x 20' of drain hose with 15' lift capacity (internal pump included) 3 + 2 Year Factory Warranty Dimensions: Width: 23" Height: 37-1/2" Depth: 20" Weight: 130 lbs **Made in the U.S.A.** National Trade Supply is one of the largest Thermastor Dealers in the United States. Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe RX High Efficiency Dehumidifier (4023673):

I had taken other steps for my allergies such as a mattress cover and a $550 HEPA air filter. I finally learned about a hygrometer and bought one. It has helped me measure the humidity. For some reason the humidity spiked, like it did last year, and my allergies were off the charts and making me absolutely miserable.

After doing some research I determined the root cause was the 77% relative humidity which provided an very fertile environment for dust mites and mold. Within 3 hours of delivery of the Santa Fe RX the humidity was below 50%. In the two weeks of having the device I have never felt better in the 5 years at this location. I do have to drink more water but that is a small price to pay.

The machine is rather large for the small condo but I probably made a rash decision to get the best as I spent hours and hours researching on the Internet because I was so miserable from my allergies. This was going to get fixed and I hoped I could do something like this instead of allergy shots.

For example, it is currently raining with 82% humidity outside, the machine is in the front room and the bathroom as away as possible is at 54%. It would probably be 78-80% without it.

But the machine was easily up and running within 5 minutes of being delivered, can easily be moved around with the wheels, the 20 foot hose works great, it is no louder than the HEPA air filter I have and it has performed wonderfully. I highly recommend the machine.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe RX High Efficiency Dehumidifier (4023673):

I use the product for whole house humidity control. It does this job very well. Very quiet, economical flawless operation. The top cover is somewhat difficult to remove and replace. this is important because the only controls to operate the unit are located under the cover. Because the top cover is difficult to remove and replace, I leave it off the unit, which is not very convenient and detracts from the overall appeal of the unit.I would also like to see an on off switch to completely shut the unit off. There are times when I would like to completely shut off the unit, and the only way to do that is to pull out the plug. This is a problem because with the plug removed the pump does not work and water will sometimes over flow the collection pan. An LED or LCD display showing humidity percentage and controls mounted on the exterior of the unit that could be accessed without taking off the cover would really be nice.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe RX High Efficiency Dehumidifier (4023673):

Small hardware store units ran constantly and still couldn't do the job. Mold was growing in the bath/laundry/bedroom areas and the boys couldn't sleep in the stuffy dampness of this semi-raised basement. This did the job! Big improvement right away. Because of its capacity, it is larger, heavier and noisier than little home units, but it does not need to run constantly like they did. It is also a great allergy reducer.

Great product! We run this in our damp basement and the mold smell has been completely eliminated. I am allergic to mold - so this is very important to me. We also purchased the optional HEPA filter and notice a significant difference in the freshness of the basement.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe RX High Efficiency Dehumidifier (4023673):

We have two. A Santa Fe bought 2000 and an Rx bought 2007. Both are working well - no problems. We did vacuum the dust from the heat exchanger of the older unit in 2006. No other maintenance was ever required. We bought the Rx for our vacation place. Much quieter - can be used inside the house.
Unfortunately the lack of competition and the excellent build quality (made in the USA) make it expensive.
