This is what I've been looking for. No one carries a dehumidifier like this locally. Great for keeping humidity down in a damp basement. Works great! Spend the money and get something that works.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
[...] Set it up in early Fall and because of cold/dry weather it didn't run but when a very warm/rainy week hit, it fired up, cleared out the dampness quickly, because of the high volume of air flow, and didn't require a long run time. Went through a few of the Home Improvement store types and wish I started with the Santa Fe. Waiting for the Summer energy use but it has to be better than the small ones which ran 24/7 to keep up. LOVE IT so far...

Have had positive previous experience with this product and when confronted with a moldy, damp basement in another house knew just which product would remedy the situation, and it performed just as expected. Reviewed many options before deciding on this unit again.

Could use a longer water hose. If you'll be in room a lot would get muffler attachment.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
This dehumidifier instantly began to clear the terrible dampness out of our building's basement. It had been terrible and getting worse, I purchased the machine for our building and in less than 2 weeks it was clearing up the moisture. As of now it is dry, free of the dank odors and our stored items are much less likely to mold etc. I highly recommend it.

This works just as billed. It took the musty smell right out of the basement. [...]I needed to send back a condensate pump since I ultimately didn't need it and that was an easy process as well. I'll do business with your site again!

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
The Santa Fe is very easy to set-up. It has certainly made a huge difference in our basement and our whole house. I'm very happy we went with this unit because it runs often and I don't think a smaller unit would be able to be as effective as this one. I wish that I knew the exact humidity level of our basement before turning this on but I wasn't about to wait. I'm guessing that it has went from 85-90% down to 60%. We're very happy but I haven't seen the electric bill yet.

Bought this to replace two department store dehumidifiers which had quit working (3rd time in 6 years). Couldn't be happier - it works wonderfully well and for the first time, my basement is completely dry and smells very fresh. I've told all my friends and neighbors to buy one!

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
We put this in our basement (about 600 sq. ft) to replace two smaller hardware store dehumidifiers. So far it has been working fine. The humidty is down to 45%. It is much quieter than the two dehumidifers and does not run as much. There is still a hint of the "basement smell" despite using a mold remover/blocker where there is mold on the walls. Hopefully a scrubbing and fresh coat of sealer will take care of any lingering problems.
It was worth the extra money to get a machine capable of managing the basement humidty level even when over 90% outside.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
This Dehumidifier out performed previous models we have purchased. Wish we would have purchased this one years ago, would have saved alot of money. It took care of the humidity quickly.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
All previous equipment purchases failed to dehumidify my basement and stopped running after a few months. My last dehumidifier lasted 3 days. They ran 24hrs a day everyday. The basement humidity measured 75-90% with moisture collecting on the home air handler and duct work. I rented a commercial unit for a week and after 7 days running continuous it reduced the humidity to 57%. After placing the Santa Fe Classic in service within 3 days the basement was down to 42%. It now is maintaining 50% cycling on and off as expected. This is a unit I would purchase again and without hesitation recommend to family and friends.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
Researched and purchased this same unit for my father three seasons ago and works like the day we started it up, so it was a no-brainer to buy one for myself when I bought a house with a damp basement. There is literally nothing I can think of to say bad or be critical about it, it is a little on the heavy side, as expected, but I can still pick it up by myself with some effort, and it rolls easily, even on an old uneven concrete floor. Got the damp feeling out of the 800 square foot basement within hours, and now kicks on and off maintaining a level of about 40%. I don't find it any louder upstairs than our old portable unit, and even though it is below our living room, is not too loud for tv watching.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I've been purchasing store brand humidifiers for years, I've never been happy with their ability to dehumidify. Even the top rated mega store brands were noisy, could never get the smell out of my basement, and struggled to get the humidity levels below 60. After 48 hours the Santa Fe at the highest setting brought the humidity level down to 42. I keep the humidity between 48 - 52 and there's no emptying buckets every day. I would highly recommend this product.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
This unit delivered! Setup in a 1000 sq ft basement with 70% humidity and within 8 hours was down to 50%. I installed in a second home and was not comfortable leaving a small store-bought unit running unattended for weeks so wanted to buy a unit that was efficient and reliable. This one impressed out of the box. I also bought the optional duct kit for future use but think it was a bit pricey for what you get. Overall, I could not be more pleased with this dehumidifier or NT Supply.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
After years of wasting money on the small compact units, I "bit the bullet" and bought this room size unit. Based on the description I thought it would be the solution. And thankfully it was. My basement is dry, mold free, and smells 100% better. The set up was easy (just like the video). The alternate pump works well. It's no more noisier than the smaller units. Best of all it doesn't constantly need to run. Very efficient and effective.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
This is my second Santa Fe. I consider it a major appliance, and in this part of the country, major appliances stay with a house when you sell. Consider that the average "energy efficient" dehumidifier that is purchased at [...]. lasts just one or two seasons before it starts getting noisy or the motor burns out. No such model ever runs through the winter. So you end up "collecting" old dehumidifiers to dump into the waste stream. Hardly energy efficient. My first Santa Fe barely flinched in the 5 yrs I lived with it. I expect no less from this one. They truly dehumidify better, are more efficient and more cost effective (lifetime cost) than any other brand. The only difficulty I've ever had is finding a good place where the power cord reaches an outlet AND the drain tube reaches the drain, without my tripping over it.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
As I have only had unit for a few weeks it is to early to make a comment about "energy efficiency". [...] The unit is installed in our 958sqft basement. The basement temp at that time was 55 degree's and 69%rh. Extracting h2o when the air temp is that cold was fair (this is normal). The unit does a terrific job of h2o extraction after the basement temp hit 62 degree's. I am very pleased. [...] the low h20 extraction in the cooler basement environment and was presented with some excellent fact's concerning this subject. [...] I, like many buyer's of this unit, had in the past, experienced sub-par performance and subsequent unit failure's after a very short time of other cheaper units that we had purchased from the big box stores. This unit is built better, and performs better. The engineering built into preventing coil freeze up's is outstanding. Coil freeze up is what kills the cheaper unit's by destroying the compressor. The cheaper unit's, after a short period of time fail to sense the coil freezing and this condition allows the compressor to continue running eventually burning up the compressor. The filter's are exceedingly easy to change, but I have not been able to find the Merv 11 filter required in local stores. They are available however from Dehumidifier Expert's and other on-line stores. The Merv 11 filter is a very well made filter and much more efficient than the cheap washable filter's found on the cheaper unit's.This is a very easy unit to move about once you have it moved to the basement or to the selected elevation in your home or business. The included discharge hose is of the right length for draining into a basement sump. I do not have the auto water pump that you can purchase optionally with the unit but I have the same branded unit attached to my home A/C system and it work's fine.Much has been written about this unit needing an indexed dial and I agree with that, but this is a very minor distraction and once you get the hang of how to set the dial using the "clock' system all is fine.My only regret with this unit is that I did not know about it's existence many years ago.....I would have saved a lot of $$$$ in the long run.I purchased the unit for it's construction quality and potential longevity and I have no reason to believe it will not perform otherwise.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
We've been using the Santa Fe Classic for almost a year now; the basement being the driest it's ever been.
Enter the big east coast storm which knocked out everyone's electricity and resulted in a flooded basement. After the sump pump kicked back in and we shop vacuumed the entire floor I mistakenly thought it would only take a few days to get it back to a normal humidity level again. The humidifier has been running non-stop for 7 days now. The humidity level when we started it up again was at 78%. Today it is 66%. Granted, it is a big basement in an old building but I had hoped this unit would have dried the basement air out quicker. I know our electric bill will be extremely high since the dehumidifier has been running 24/7.
The cave crickets are back and are breading behind my workbench. Unless the air dries soon I may have another infestation problem. (The Santa Fe got rid of the old infestation problem).
I am still happy with this model and would have given it 5 stars if not for the length of time its taken to get the humidity down to a workable 60%.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
My basement was always damp even after sealing the walls. Basement temp was 57'F, 2,000 sq.ft. and the unit lowered the humidity from 60% to 50% in one week. It would cycle a little due to the lower temp. which slowed the overall progress. About five degrees more would have been beneficial. The musty smell is gone and you can feel a difference in the entire basement. I should have just spent the money and bought this one before instead of those smaller ones that you find in home improvement stores which don't last to long and aren't as efficient per kilowatt used. This is a great product for homeowners. It worked perfectly and immediately right from the box.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
Nice product. This thing moves some serious air. Appears well built and does a great job. Top filter is a nice addition plus can run fan to filter air all the time.
I cannot say it is too noisy for what it does but it is certainly not quiet. In my basement the noise is 100% fine and expected.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I searched every local store trying to find a unit built in America. Failing this I had to purchase a unit from one of the big box stores. This unit was made in China and was a total piece of gargage. It was so noisy and ineffective that it was unusable. Every component on it vibrated-I took off one piece at a time trying to quiten it down. After it was stripped down to the bare frame and still made a ton of noise I decided it was time to bite the bullet and purchase the made in America (high quality) unit that I should have in the first place. To make matters worse for environmental reasons I can't even put the first unit in the trash to get rid of it. The Chinese unit ran almost nonstop- the Santa Fae brought my basement humidity under 50% within a couple of hours and currently only kicks on now and then. Yes it is expensive - but then throwing away useless equipment is also.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
Put the Santa Fe Classic to work in a 2200 sq. ft basement. Originally had 77 percent relative humidity. Within two days, it was down to 39 percent. The unit keeps it there with control set just below midpoint. Couldn't be happier with the product. It's not an inexpensive dehumidifier, but it's worth every penny. Also, not extremely quiet, but certainly not noisy.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I purchased this dehumidifier after the Atlanta floods. Finally my old house basement no longer smells musty and moldy. It's a large unit and I needed help to get it into the basement. But from there it was as simple as plugging it in and running the hose to the drain. You can believe the great reviews and my friends that bought the less expensive $200 dehumidifiers aren't happy with them.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I have a basement with a underground interior perimeter drain and sump pump. Needed a good dehumidifier to dry out a 1,500sq ft semi-finished basement. The product is effective but unfortunately runs almost all the time to maintain a 55% Humidity level after being installed for one week.. Have applied waterproofing paint to walls and floor so hope this might cut down condensation and help unit work a little less hard to maintain 50-55% humidity level. Regardless still much better than the 2 "ineffective" [...] dehumidifiers.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
We live in Georgia and with all the recent rains/flooding our basement became musty/damp. This dehumidifier has a large capacity and has done a great job of dehumidifying the basement. It is a large unit and I did not want it in the room that is finished. I did buy the ducting kit and plan on keeping the unit in the unfinished part of the basement and duct it into the finished part. I have not done this as yet. So far, I have been running it in the unfinished part of the basement and have left a door open into the finished side.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
We've had a damp crawl space of about 1500sf that is troubled with groudwater saturation and constant high humidity. The moment we plugged in this unit it started trickling water out! It is a strong machine to cover big problems. It is also nice because you can have your HVAC guy fab up a duct pan on the top and run out any number of ducts/sizes to cover different rooms areas. We ran out two 8" ducts and one 6" duct to different areas of the crawlspace and then also piped up a 6" return off the exhaust to shoot warm dry area back into the wettest area to help get it drier. In about a week humidity has dropped, musty smell is gone, and you no longer instantly start to sweat when you go in there. The built in humidistat works great too and we set it at 30% and things are nice and dry.

Have over 6,000 sq.ft home. 17 ft. ceilings on main level, huge basement, partially finished. We are in an area near a large lake..humidity/dampness. This is the 2nd Santa Fe dehumidifier I have purchased...the first one worked excellent for 10 years and ran 24/7! [...] The humidity had risen to over 50% in the unfinished basement area, after 2 days with the new Santa Fe dehumidifer it was down to 32%!!! EXCELLENT...my brother also uses same model in his northern WI home. Highly recommended by this family!

[...] Install was as easy as plumbing condensate drain. (Purchased pump seperate)Took my basement from over 70+% humidity level down to 50% in three days, and has been maintaining it there for over 10 days now running intermitantly. We are using the de-humidifier in our basement, but the humidity level has not fallen below 60%.
I am very surprised that this unit has not been able to bring our humidity to a level lower than that. Our basement has a concrete floor and should be dryer than this. I am not sure this unit is powerful enough for a basement.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I could not justify spending good money on the [$] plastic throw-away models. I struggled for a month knowing that real money gets real quality and performance. No regrets.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I use the product to lower and maintain proper humidity levels on both levels of my house. It performs great. The unit is somewhat noise for installation in open living space. It is about the same level as the AC fan. There is a duct that can be placed over the exhaust to lower the sound level some.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
In three days the 2400 SF basement of our 100 yr old building stopped smelling moldy and dank. The on/off switch is a blank faced dial that doesn't really give you a humidity level to shoot for, so we set it at what we thought would be 65% humidity. The unit never turned off and the air became too dry. So, we dialed it down to where it would run occasionally and still keep the basement odor-free. For the price that we paid, I think the unit should have come with a humidity gauge.
We used to get a lot of earwigs and cave crickets in the basement (250 Ft. of which are a yankee basement). They are all but gone now. We come across a few every now and then - but it is definitely not like it was. Before the Sante Fe - it was like camping out in our own house!
We haven't had this that long - maybe 2 months. After we've had this for a year, I'll try to post another review. If you aren't close to a sump pump pit - you definitely want to get the pump. The unit is very quiet - not silent, but quiet.
If you do any woodworking be prepared to wash/vacuum the filters more often. Make sure you have an outlet close by.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
Installation is simple: wheel the unit to the desired location, slip the included filter into its holder bracket, plug in, and set the humidity control knob to about 50%. In my case, I had to build a small platform to raise the unit about seven inches so that the water hose would gravity drain to a sump pump that sits above (not in) my basement floor. A few hours later, the summer dampness and musty smell were gone from my 1600 square foot basement. The unit is a little noisy if you stand right next to it, but now that the basement has dried out, the unit is hardly ever on. This product is worth the premium price.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
Our Santa Fe Classic impressed from the moment we saw it. [...].Setup was a snap. My 8 year-old and I teamed up and unpacked the items, attached the pump, and installed the dehumidifier in under 40 minutes. It really couldn't have been much easier and was a great opportunity to explain how the unit worked, reinforce the proper use of tools, and spend some quality time with my son. Incidentally, just a screwdriver and utility knife is all you'll need for setup. We plugged it in and viola it was visibly removing water from the air within 20 minutes. It ran steadily at the middle setting for two and a half days straight. Later, when I checked our hygrometer the relative humidity was at 37%. We are now dialing it back to reach that optimal 50% level. (The hygrometer that was promised has still not arrived despite filling out and mailing the product registration form, however). Our rather large basement (2000 sq. ft.) with just under 8 ft. ceilings has lost that musty basement odor and I honestly believe it has reduced the load on the upstairs a/c unit as well.We had sworn we would never finish the basement again after we invested 25k only to have to rip it all out due to a flood from a failed sump pump. We had a triple redundant sump installed by a local vendor and took steps on the outside of the house to re-direct runoff water away from the house. It's been 4 years since we've taken those steps and we've had no water come in, despite periods of heavy rainfall here in the Northeast. High humidity was a still a problem during the summer months though. The Santa Fe unit has solved that problem and has prompted thoughts of re-finishing the basement! Hello game room and home theatre! The only negative that I can come up with (and I'm reaching here) is the price. Truth is though, you get what you pay for. Hopefully, with regular maintenance (filter changes, vacuum coils) this unit will give us years of clean, dry air in our basement! We're happy customers and we would do this again!

We placed the unit in our basement which is approximately 2200 sq ft. There is actually an adjoining section that measures 2800 sq ft. so we placed the dehumidifier in such a way that it would dehumidify both areas. The unit is rated for about 2750 sq ft and we can tell that both areas are much drier. The humid, musty smell was significantly diminished after about 5 days.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I have owned too many junk dehumidifiers than I care to admit. The Santa Fe Classic may be the last one I need to buy. In short, it has dehumidifying horsepower, and it is well made. It resolved my damp, musty 1900 sq. ft. basement in less than 3 days. My basement smells new again. I was reluctant about the cost, but it was well worth. Don't waste your money on smaller, cheaper machines only to be frustrated.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
All in all a superb piece of gear. Highly recommend.Note: During Shipping, the Humidistat Dial got pushed into machine and would not rotate (due to hitting screws in back panel) beyond the 1200 - 1400 position which attempts to get humidity well below 50%. Fix: Pull Humidistat Dial out a little so that it clears the screws and has full rotation. This Dial needs to be re-engineered.Secondly, the electric wire got yanked out from its housing during shipping - still functional, but unsightly. I merely shoved the cord back into machine as best I could since the plastic housing was slightly sprung.Nevertheless, aside from these two minor issues, a great piece of gear.Respectfully,Geoff LyonLtCol, USMC (Ret.)

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
A good dehumidifier will deliver years of trouble-free operation. I've bought & discard numerous [...] units over the years, and have concluded that you can't pay less than $500 for a dehumidifier and expect to hold its freon for more than 3-5 years. After the freon leaks away (usually through a hole in the evaporator) - you throw it out. It remains to be seen whether this unit really lasts since I just bought it, but it does a superb job of drying out my basement. I can easily maintain 50% RH at a temp of 55 deg.I also like the unit's design. It's easy to install intake/output ducts if you prefer to evenly distribute the dry air, or you can use it free-standing. Unit runs quieter than dehumid's half it's size, and removes enormous amounts of water while consuming only 6-7 amps from a 120V source. Filters on top of unit are easy to replace and remove mold/spores.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
This product is effective and relatively quiet compared to some lower priced dehumidifiers I have used. I got tired of the "two years and done" dehumidifiers that just quit working on me. I plugged this product into my 1000 square foot basement (89% relative humidity) and within two hours the RH was 70%. It keeps the basement nicely at about 52% RH with relatively little run time. I would buy this one again.

We own a 2600 sq foot craftsman bungalow with high ceilings and lots of air inleakage. Before we installed it, I was always hot and my wife was always cold. With this product, we can be comfy at the same temperature. I highly recommend that it be installed with a plumbed in safety pan.
The only complaints I have are that 1) some screws were missing and 2) the condensate pan is not insulated from the exhaust side. I fixed both issues in the field without the hassle of a return.

Well after having two smaller dehumidifiers that couldn't do the job. I am so pleased with the performance of my Santa Fe Classic. I pulled it out of the box plugged it in and BOOM! problem solved. 40 to 50 % humidity with in minutes!

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I initially felt that the price for this unit was steep, but like many reviewers here I was used to buying the "Big Box" store imitation of a dehumidifier. After the third dehumidifier died (yes - after the warranty expired), I decided to search for the "right tool for the right job". I internet searched my way to [@] and read everything I could pertaining to dehumidifiers and damp basements. Based on the reviews [...] No regrets after three weeks of ownership. The Santa Fe Classic is well designed, well built, and powerful. It knocked down the humidity and damp odors in my basement.
I thought I would have a problem with scheduling a delivery because I was going to be out of town for a few days, but Reed Barich held my order and timed the delivery perfectly. I received the Santa Fe Classic in perfect condition and even got help from the delivery guy getting it down my basement stairs.

so far we are impressed. have had the santa fe running about two weeks with a noticeable improvement in moisture and humidity.we built a small table plugged it in and used an old washer drain and see plenty of water exiting our basement. don't know about cost of running, but it does run reasonable quiet. not a single negative so far.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I had a basement that smelled and felt "wet" and was afraid to use it because of respiratory issues. After purchasing the Santa Fe, the basement feels alot drier and the smell is gone.I am using the basement as for storage and laundry now, and am no longer afraid of mold issues. A little expensive up front, but the effectiveness, ease of operation, and quality are worth it. The drain hose is a plus - no need to empty buckets ever.It runs a little loud in an empty basement, but it's a lot better with the optional sound muffler.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
From the moment we plugged in the Santa-Fe Classic we knew this was not your ordinary brick and mortar store dehumidifier! Our basement has never been so dry and odor free. There was some hesitation on our part to purchase at first but between the reviews on the site, the way our order was processed and the great performance of the dehumidifier we now know we made the right decision.
There was a glitch with the delivery however. Fedex Freight would not deliver to the door with the truck they had available due to their thinking the over head wires were too low. They offered to deliver the dehumidifier on a smaller truck when it became available. We opted to meet the driver on a main street to pick it up. Keep this in mind when making delivery arrangements with the delivery company.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I purchased the Santa Fe Classic dehumidifier for our sixty year old Maryland home. Our finished basement was very humid due to the lack of a proper vapor barrier under the original concrete floor. I have replaced 3 consumer grade dehumidifiers over the last 8 years because they ran constantly and could not keep up with the humidity level. The Santa Fe Classic brought the humidity level down to 50% within a few hours and does not need to run constantly. The basement smells mildew free.

The humidity in our basement (approx. 1800 sq. ft) was constantly around 80%. Installed the SantaFe dehumidifier and it brought the humidity down to the 40 - 50% range overnight. Very satisfied with its operation

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
This is a very high quality product that addressed my high humidity problem in my finished basement in no time as compared to the box store versions I have previously owned. I made an adapter to hook it up to a wall register with flex hose and put it in a utility room. The only downside was not having access to the drain hose connection and having to come up with an extension to what was supplied. Having used numerous dehumidifiers and replacing them every 1.5 years, I believe the additional cost for this model will be money well spent.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I use the unit in a basement environment, this year was very wet and we had a big mold problem. The unit has greatly improved the atmosphere in our house. The only cons are that it does seem to have to run quite a lot in order to achieve even 50% humidity, however our basement is cool and so there will be reduced efficiency under those conditions. It is also louder than I expected but tolerable given the improvement that it has made.
I had my new Santa Fe Classic for about a week --it was performing exactly as all the other reviewers had said. It quickly took a damp moldy space to a clean air dry space without odor. However, 4 days in it quit working properly, or should I say it wasn't working properly to begin with. I called customer service and they walked me through the problem and discovered that it had been incorrectly wired from the factory. They (on the phone) told me what to do and I was able to correctly wire the unit and now it is working as good as ever. It was a hassle but, I got to speak directly to a human who actually knew what was going on -- no waiting on hold for someone in India. I am happy.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I am very happy with its performance. This is an amazing dehumidifier. The basement went from ~80% relative humidity down to a very comfortable <40% RH in a couple of days. All the smell is gone and the carpet is drying out. The add-on kits for the ducting are ridiculously expensive, though. For what they are, there is no reason they should cost what they cost. That's the only thing that is upsetting me right now. [$] for a dehumidifier and they want to charge another [$] for a simple piece of sheet metal. Why not just include it? Still, the product is very effective.
Delivery was next-day. I don't really know how, but it was very fast and very convenient. FedEx freight even called to schedule the time of delivery with me, and the trucker even helped get it into the basement. Huge help.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
This product does everything they say and then some.
Yes...it is expensive but does the job quickly and has no problem maintaining the humidity levels of 50% or lower. The damp smell is gone and all parts of my 1000+ sq ft basement are dry. It has even brought down the levels in the rest of my home...and this is before the installation of the remote kit.
I am running it standalone right now but I will soon be adding the remote kit to finish off the installation using a remote humidistat.
Worth every penny.
Fedex Freight is top notch.
Unit came quickly and was in perfect condition.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
Our old dehumidifer was not doing the job in the basement. Being an electrical engineer I tried to explore the many possiblities and online research led me to the Santa Fe Classic. I downloaded the instruction/maintenance manual and was impressed by its thoroughness. I received the unit via truck in just a few days and found it very easy to unpack and set up.
It was immediately obvious that this unit was lightyears ahead of the old one... and far more efficient. It has four times the daily water removal rate as the old dehumidifier with the same energy consumption. An air filter and pre-filter mean that the condenser coils will not clog up with dust. I have a basement workshop nearby and found the noise level was not a problem at all. I am quite pleased, and better yet - my wife is no longer complaining about a musty smell in the basement. I was also pleased to see that the device was manufactured in the U. S. of A.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
We bought a new house with a very humid basement. After running 2 store bought 65 pint dehumidifiers for 2 weeks it brought the humidity down from 89% into the 70’s. My sister had purchased a Santa Fe Classic for around [$] from a local HVAC company for her damp basement and loved it. I found the same one from this website for cheaper and after reading the great reviews I decided to try it. In 2 days the humidity went from in the 70’s to the low 60’s. It has been running for about 3 weeks now and is holding steadily 52%. You will need to purchase a humidistat because the dial on the unit doesn’t tell you current humidity. Other than that I’m very happy with this purchase. It was expensive, but did the job that a store bought dehumidifier couldn’t. The pump would be a good accessory if you are not planning on putting it by a drain. It cleans the air of mold spores at the same time, so the basement is dry and doesn’t have that funky smell anymore either.

Expensive and worth every penny ! I tried to make do with several consumer units, but this has them all beat. The consumer units spent most of their time being frozen up.
No further concern of vinegar syndrome or mold caused by high humidity.
I hope it can take the running regimen it will have to endure! My humidty problems were caused by wall seepage whenever it rains.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
This is a great product. I owned the Ultra Aire and now the Santa Fe. My only problem was the blower. Seems their supplier didn't put the set screw in and the blower impeller rubbed on the fan casing. Customer and Technical assitance were very helpful and offered to take it in return, send a new blower or help me fix the one I have. Just a little work and tightened set screw and everything is fine. I am glad to have help like that a phone call away. I look forward to many years of energy effient dehumidification service. This unit should pay for itself. The only reason I did not give the product 5 stars is because the fan set screw needed to be installed. I would have given service 5 stars if offered. This is a great product.

Bought this dehumidifcation system for a customer of ours. Quality built! Pulled basement Humidity levels from 72% to 45% within a few hours. Basement was app 1200 Sq Ft with a saltwater Filtration system for a 500 Gallon Fish Tank that was adding loads of humidity into the basement causing duct work to sweat. In a small amount of time all ducts began to stop sweating.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I gave this unit a big job to do in our unoccupied home 4hrs away from our new residence. We had always run a dehumidifier in the finished basement when we lived there but forgot about the dampness collecting after we moved. I needed a unit that was a step up from the basic home dehumidifier, one that was up to the job of drying out that basement.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I wasted my money on a smaller unit 4 years ago and wish I had bought this one to begin with. The Santa Fe Classic is awesome and works as advertised. It took my basement from about 65% humidity down to 40% humidity overnight. My basement smells fresh and clean, like the rest of my house now. I would buy this unit again, in a heart beat, and would recommend it to anyone wanting a dehumidifier for their home. Don't let the price sway you to a lesser unit as this one is worth every penny.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
This is used in the basement and works great. Air movement is excellent and it keeps the humidity around 50-55%. It's quite noisy, but that is not a problem where we use it.
I was looking for a new dehumidifier as our portable one (No. 3) was sent in for repair and I was told it should be back in TWO weeks which was too long to be without it. I ordered this one on July 9th and it arrived on July 11th much to my surprise. Thank goodness I ordered it as the repair center for the Kenmore called THREE weeks after I dropped it off at Sears and said they had just received it. It has now been more than FIVE weeks and it is still not back.
The man I talked to at NT Supply provided outstanding help, and everything they say on their website about portable dehumidifiers I have found to be true from personal experience with three of them. I also checked out Consumer Reports' recommendation for the top portable dehumidifier and the online reviews for it are horrible. I wish this Santa Fe had been my first rather than my fourth as I expect it to last 10-15 years and do a much better and more efficient job.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I was a bit concerned about the price. I had an old bucket type dehumidifier that did the trick, but it was a problem changing the bucket and it never got the temperature and humidity right and ran all the time. This machine is just the best piece of equipment I could imagine. Easy to use the settings on the knobs. Beautiful looking too. It not only eliminated the humidity in the first day, it works beautifully to keep the basement at a constant humidity AND cool temperature. It runs only when needed, which is a lot less than before. I have not had to use my air conditioning in the basement once during some very hot and humid weather. This does it all instead. No basement odor left either. Very comfortable living environment. I am so happy I spent the money. It was well worth it. I will not only never need another machine, but this one will also save me lots on energy since it doesn't run constantly, and I don't need to use my central air unit for this area.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
The dehumidifier has reduced the humidity in the 2000 sq. ft. basement from 77 to 50. It took about 10 days to get it down to 50. I have it set
to keep the humidity at 50. Now it only runs a few hours a day to accomplish this.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
Santa Fe Classic.... my 1600 sq. ft. basement, print shop was always around 75% humidity and in the summer it was so bad that my stock would warp and mold would actually start to build up on the walls if left unattended for more than 3 days (no new air I guess). After installing this unit my humidity hasn't gone over 55%. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I drain it right into a hole in the cement floor and it does a fantastic job. Best [$] I ever spent. I went away for 10 days and everything was perfectr when I got back. Thanks NT!
Very fast delivery. Arrived in perfect shape ready to plug in and go...
Sales staff was VERY knowledgeable in helping me choose this model (saved me about $1800 dollars too because I was looking at a bigger model!)

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I've purchased many different brands of "cheap" dehumidifiers over the years. None of them were able to lower the humidity to the 40-45% recommended to prevent mold. We recently received a record rainfall of 10" in 5-days. This humidifier maintained 35% with the humidistat half-way. This unit is expensive but it just works. I think it was a wise investment.
Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
I recently moved and transferred numerous boxes and furniture that had been stored in various basement locations and garages over the years. Much of the stuff smelled musty, so I was surprised to find that this new dehumidifier was able to dry out these items and remove most of the smell. In addition, there was some kind of chemical dust in the new basement (due to upstairs floor sanding and refinishing residue that got into the air circulating system) and I was allergic to it. The high quality air filter on this unit reduced, in one short week, much of this chemical smell. As a consequence, my allergic reactions are much improved.
This unit, although expensive, has been well worth its price. I was relieved to turn it on and see things happen! That is to say, to see a steady decline in humidity levels to below 50% within a few hours...and without the energy wasting "defrost" cycles I had to tolerate with my smaller room size machines. This is truly an "industrial strength" dehumidifier. I highly recommend it for anyone who is serious about humidity control.

This product brought our indoor humidity levels down from 65% to 30% in a short amount of time. We have always had "wet" houses, but nothing has done the job of taking the humidity out of the house like this product has. I put it in my basement to keep the humidity at about 50% so nothing will rust. I don't think it works well below 60 degrees (runs a lot) but when it is cold out the HERV does a good job. My basement isn't heated but stays above 50 degrees in the winter. It was expensive but others don't seem to work more than a year or 2 before giving up.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
The Santa Fe was recommended to me by a friend. I was not disapointed. This thing dried by basement out without blinking and once dried out it hardly has to run. It operates mosly in the summer months when it is damper. It has very strong air exhaust which helps in a large space and it isnt that noisy for a large unit. I used to have a small sears unit in my old house that that was noisier than this. The only thing I would improve is the water exhaust port. It is down low near the floor and I bought the external pump to pump the water to a sink on the other side of my basement (through some clear tubing). The port on the unit is so low I have to lay the external pump unit on the floor next to the Santa Fe. I would have preferred id there was a way to attach the pump unit to the Santa Fe, on th side or something like that, even if it is down low. So I can roll the whole thing around more easily. How about a built in pump! Other than that I am very happy with the unit.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
We have a large finished 2200 sqf basement and always have had high humidity problems including dampness and a musty odor. Over the years I tried numerous small dehumidifer that I purchased from local stores like Lowes, Sears, etc. None of them worked at all. Didn't even come close.
Within a week after installing the Santa Fe dehumidifier our basement humidity went from 85% to 45% and has stayed there now for over a year. The musty odor problem has also disappeared completely. I highly recommend this product. A little bigger footprint then the toy dehumidifiers you buy locally, but it does a great job and doesn't make anymore noise.
My wife and I have concluded this is one of the best purchases we have made for our home.

This unit performs as described. Sometimes it is noisier than others. It is not as noisy as the three dehumidifiers that it replaced though. Quite a stream of warm air comes out of it. The humidistat has too wide of an on/off differential, making it difficult to adjust.
Other than the humidity control this unit does its job very nicely. Its easy to roll around. I would buy it again.

Comments about Thermastor Santa Fe Classic Basement & Whole House Dehumidifier (4029700):
Santa Fe is a workhorse. It really pulls the humidity of my basement. I like the filtering & the efficiency. I dislike the noise[...] and the fact that the humidity set point seems too variable. The unit is set to 48% & I've seen humidity as high as 54% & as low as 42%. Seems like the range should be smaller & the unit would run less as a result. All in all the unit will do the job but could be better.
