Comments about Aprilaire Aprilaire 1710 High Capacity Free Standing Basement / Crawlspace Dehumidifier:
- Very damp, stone "pittsburgh" basement with musty odors
- turned it on and set it to a high setting and let it do its thing
- for almost two weeks it ran 24/7 there was a constant drainage of water - goodness only knows how much it sucked out of the walls
- have had product for about 3 weeks - it is now cycling on and off and I cannot describe the difference in the smell and feel of the basement
very good product so far...

Comments about Aprilaire Aprilaire 1710 High Capacity Free Standing Basement / Crawlspace Dehumidifier:
Using in damp unfinished basement. Been in use about three weeks. Was using LG 35 pint humidifier, replaced with this unit. Single setting results in 15 point spread in RH on a daily basis. No way to set to a specfic RH. With this more powerful unit, expected it to run less to maintain RH. This unit runs as much a cheaper unit, if not more. LG unit was $200, had RH set for auto operation, and energy star certified. At this point I'm disappointed in this unit's performance based on the price I paid for it (over [$]).

Comments about Aprilaire Aprilaire 1710 High Capacity Free Standing Basement / Crawlspace Dehumidifier:
We are remodeling an Alaska WWII Army bunker and use the dehumdifier in the shop area. It works great at higher room temperatures. Currently we are keeping the day time temperature about 62 degrees F. The scale in the owner's manual doesn't even go that low of temperature. The dehumidifier seems to work better if we have it warmer than that.
