Good application for dehumidifying a damp crawl space. Plenty of static pressure for flexible duct run. Built in humidistat is convenient and
works well.

Comments about Aprilaire Aprilaire 1700 Ductable Dehumidifier:

I love this product! I have a home in Tennessee where humidity levels get pretty high. If I were away for a period of time, mold would grow on my leather furniture! I decided to install a central heating/air system which helped some, but I didn't want the system running at normal temperatures when I wasn't home. I purchased the Aprilaire 1700 about 4 years ago and connected it to my central heating/air system up in the attic. The air that is pulled into the intake vents from my central unit passes through the Aprilaire de-humidifier, then dry air is sent back into the house via the ducts that are connected to each room as normal. The moisture that is gathered from the Aprilaire unit is piped outside, along side the central heat/air unit connections for the outside fan...thus no special setup to drain the unit. Since I set the desired dehumidity level on the Aprilaire control up in the attic, which operates according to what's set on the control, not what the humidity level is in the attic, I haven't needed to look at, touch, check on, etc. the Aprilaire unit once in 4 years. What's good about the unit is that it will check for humidity levels in the main house, if you install the thermostat, and will operate through the central heat/air system even while the system is not coming on for it's own purpose...to heat or cool the house. Since the control in the attic lets you specify an interval of time for the Aprilaire unit to come on, and I've been extremely happy with the results, I haven't needed to install the thermostat unit in the house. No more mold on the furniture when I come back home, and no more having to put my sheets in the dryer before I can get into bed at night!! When I purchased the unit, I was skeptical, as I didn't know anyone who was using it in their own home, my local electrician had never heard of it before (but after reviewing the information I printed from the internet thought it was the cats meow), and it was pricey, but it worked out perfectly and turns out it was a great investment. I would buy this unit again, and I do recommend it to anyone who has the same problem I did.
