Fantech Heat Recovery Ventilator Model SH 704 - 56 CFM Indoor air quality problems have soared since the late 1970's when construction technology succeeded in developing energy efficient "tight" houses. Pollutants inside houses, which once escaped through cracks around windows and doors, are now trapped inside creating an indoor environment that is often 2 to 5 times more polluted than outside. Pet dander, mold spores, dust mites, allergens, tobacco smoke and other pollutants add up to poor indoor air quality. Fantech SHR Series Heat Recovery Ventilators are high performance, low maintenance units designed to improve indoor air quality and provide balanced ventilation in residential applications. Units include many installer-friendly features - easy-slide core guides, external electrical box, easy-access doors, and much more. This compact HRV with easy-mount wall bracket is pefect for a small home or condominium. It brings a continuous supply of fresh air into a home while exhausting an equal amount of contaminated air. HRVs use what is called a "sensible" heat recovery core. This special core transfers heat from the exhaust air stream to the incoming air stream. Fresh incoming air is tempered by the heat that is transferred from the outgoing air to save on energy costs. The SH704 is equipped with automatic defrost mechanisms so even if you lie in the coldest climates you can use your HRV all year long. Sizing For Your Residential Needs HRVs/ERVs are typically sized to ventilate the whole house at a minimum of .35 air changes per hour. To calculate minimum CFM requirements, simply take the square footage of the house (including basement) and multiply by the height of the ceiling to get cubic volume. CONTROLS: Unit is designed to operate continuously on a single speed. DEFROST: The automatic defrost cycle consists of a fan shutdown. When the supply air stream temperature goes below 23°F (-5°C), the supply motor shuts down while the exhaust motor continues to ventilate. Ambient air is passed through the unit for a period of 3 or 5 minutes. (see chart below) The supply motor will then re-start and run at the preset speed. This fan shutdown defrost cycle continues until the supply air stream rises above 23°F (-5°C). My new office was sealed as tightly as you can possibly make a new building and I was having trouble with excess humidity and odors in our outdoor equipment room. Since the installation of this device the smells are gone and the humidity is under control. Construction of this device is first rate. My only small complaint is that it be a little quieter. Don't get me wrong this product is by no means loud in the sound it does make is fairly pleasant but as always I wish it could be quieter.

We have a fairly new house and needed an air exchanger,we burn wood and this equalizes the pressure in the house and keeps the air fresh.
