We installed this fan in a small room with a high powered network server. The room only has circulation in the summer when the AC is on, and even then it is a very warm room. This fan has improved temps in the room considerably and has reduced the fan noise from our server.

As a property manager and renovator of old houses, putting vent fans in baths is a priority...and a pain! Ceiling mounted vent fans are hard to retrofit--both for wiring and for routing the vent duct. I've been looking for a through-the-wall vent fan that is worth spending the hours to instal and the Panasonic FV-08WQ1 is it. Unlike cheap lumberyard stock items, the Panasonic is heavy duty: thick gauge metal, rigid steel duct piping. The installed fan is as quiet as advertised, almost imperceptible. A small negative is that the bottom edge of the plastic grill is plastered with stickers (UL stickers, etc.) across the entire edge; since you mount this fan on the wall as close to the ceiling as possible, this bottom edge is prominent and the stickers look terrible. Luckily, Panasonic made the grill symmetrical and I just installed the grill upside down to hide the stickers. Aside from that trivial cosmetic detail, the fan is exactly the product I have been looking for. I should probably buy a case of them and get busy on my backlog of older baths that need vent fans installed!

Very good quality. The instructions were not very good and not clear, seemed to be written by an amateur. It took some ingenuity to figure out that you had to swap the mounting bracket depending on whether it was new construction or an add in. I also had to modify the extension sleeve by cutting away the metal to accomodate the junction box. I still highly recommend this product.

This fan does an excellent job removing moisture from the bathroom and is extremely quiet. I've had a Panasonic bathroom exhaust fan at my previous home. So when it was time to buy a fan for my new home, it was a no brainer to select another Panasonic fan.

I put this fan in my small bathroom that is on the first floor of a three floor condo complex. I had to use something that would be ascetically pleasing to the Home Owners Association, while still delivering great results. This is such a great fan. It operates with the light switch, however, can be set up with another switch. It is virtually silent, you can only hear noise when standing right next to it and at that, it is a very quiet sound. It has dramatically changed the way we take showers, it moves the air out of the bathroom extremely well, and I couldn't be happier.

A premium-rate pro handyman ($100+/hour) installed this fan, but he could not get the plastic grille to sit flush to the fan base/wall. The gap on the right side is 1/8" and you can see the fan base under it; on the left side the gap is less than 1/16" (as it ought to be) and you can't see the base. The installer said it looked like a design issue since the fan base itself was visibly flush to the wall. Other than that, this fan would get 4+ stars since it runs quiet and seems to move the steamy air out of the bathroom ok.

I purchased this exhaust fan because of the good reviews. I now am a very satisfied customer. It is so quiet you can't tell if it is on or off, but is very efficient. The installation through the wall was a cinch!

Replaced an old very noisy fan. There aren't many low-noise fans available which are suitable for wall-mounting, so I was particularly pleased. Generally, the Panasonic brand is superior, and this was no exception.

Installed this fan in the peak of a large masterbath suite with a vaulted (14') ceiling and two controls, one in open-to-the skylights W.C. and one near the shower. Fan is nearly silent at that height, but not adequate for space (luckily, the climate is dry & forced-air electric heat). Should have two fans, but nowhere to put another.

Fan is made to install through the wall, but with 2 x 6 framing, drywall, sheathing & siding, the unit would not fit without some sheetmetal triming of (included) sleeve. There is no accomodation for walls between 6 1/2" and 8" -- go figure.

Once installed, customer was thrilled with silent operation, until a breeze caused the damper / backflow preventer to bang when the unit wasn't running. The 8" diameter single flap of aluminum "thumps" against a thin piece of foam anytime there is a differential pressure between inside & outside. The sound is similar to a car door closing, and evidently can be VERY annoying in the middle of the night. I have temporarily jambed the flap open until I can find or fabricate a multipiece (plastic?) replacement. Luckily the weather is warming.

Ther is nothing that wouldn't be great about that product. We use it to renew the air of the room connected to the kitchen and that works perfectly. N.B.: we had it installed by a professional electrician.

I selected this because I needed a through-wall installation. It's a bit pricey, but it's really quiet moves a lot of air. These were the key things I wanted and it seems this fan meets/exceeds the needs. It looks good on the outside of the house - not an ugly wart. The style on the inside is ok, it could be updated to look more modern or offer some options. It's not flush with the wall, but probably can't be because it has to fit into a standard stud wall - just be aware of this. I wouldn't put it on a wall where you were concern about aesthetics.

I have installed three of these units in the past few years and the customers have been very satisfied in every case. They are very quiet and draw very little power. Installation is fairly straightforward and can be adapted to unusual situations (two of the installations were in double-planked construction). Through the wall fans are getting harder to find. This is a good one.
