Comments about Fantech Fantech RVF6 Wall Mounted Exterior Centrifugal Fan - 204 CFM:
This fan was easy to install, the build quality was great and the power was just what was necessary! I bought this fan to suck cigarette smoke out of a garage. The garage is about 500 sq ft, with 300 of them occupied by two cars. The fan was mounted on a wall, close to the 200 sq ft work area at the end of the garage.
It clears smoke very well! When you stand outside under the vent, you can feel a huge stream of air coming from the exhaust. It is a little noisy.. but you can't move a bunch of air without making some noise. It is very tolerable in a garage setting.
Currently I have it installed with a simple switch, but an electronic fan controller might be good if you want precise speed (and thus noise) control.
Bottom line, if you need to move a lot of air, and do it in a through-wall configuration, this is a unit I would recommend considering.

Comments about Fantech Fantech RVF6 Wall Mounted Exterior Centrifugal Fan - 204 CFM:
The unit says "made in Germany" on it and right on the impeller it says "PAPST" as well as "made in Germany" so that's good.
The motor / impeller are indeed perfectly balanced ( you can actually see the balancing weight screwed into it ). As it spins you can see there is no wobbling at all and no vibration. so that is also good.
it's pretty loud but the noise is white noise. there are no scary rattling or buzzing sounds. the sound is that of air blowing, not of motor running.
i also got a fantech fan speed controller to use with this fan. its able to adjust the fan speed down from really fast stock speed all the way down to a crawl. at the very low speeds ( lower than you would be using, almost stopped ) the motor begins to emit some kind of buzzing but at normal speeds it goes away. i was able to set the speed that suits me perfectly, so that's good. at this speed i have measured it to pull 38 watts. that is not a trivial amount of power - over the 5 year warranty period of this fan you will end up clocking some tangible electrical costs.
the one thing i didn't particularly like is between the impeller and the body there is almost a 1 centimeter gap. logic suggests that i am losing airflow and air pressure to this gap. on the other hand it has to be there because the motor/impeller are mounted on flexible support and the gap is needed to prevent the possibility of rubbing. also on the exterior of the unit the perforations that allow the air to vent outside seem to be somewhat restrictive - logic suggests some airflow and pressure is lost to that as well.
to summarize the motor and impeller on this unit ( apparently manufactured by PAPST ) are perfect. motor is powerful, bearing is smooth as silk and the entire assembly is perfectly balanced and vibration free. however the metal enclosure into which they are mounted is not of the same quality. of course it's not as important as the motor/impeller and it's not really preventing them from doing their job but it's just not up to the same standard. it's as if the motor and impeller were designed in Germany while the housing was designed in Mexico.
to improve this model fantech would need to make the housing more aerodynamic and reduce the power consumption a bit. then it would be perfect.
for now - 4 stars for fantech. 5 stars for papst.

I used this fan to vent two bathrooms. It has enough power(CFM) to replace the two fan system I had before.
