This was used as the suction fan for sub-concrete radon removal. Easily installed. Although I don't understand the wiring gauge differences white heavier than black, black same as green. It's running fine.

Very good price - local dealer was charging[$] for same unit. [...] Install was a snap. Was replacing an older model whose motor had burned out...everything else was in-place so it was an easy 3 wire connection - took about 10 minutes.

Happy that I found iaqsource.com. When my RadonAway RP145 stopped working after 8 years, I thought I was going to have to pay big bucks to have it replaced. Lucky for me, I found the model I needed and swapped it out myself in 10 minutes.

This was an EXCELLENT purchase! We saved a bundle doing it ourselves & it was so easy to do. Highly recommended for people even with limited space as we are in a middle unit townhome. It is so quiet & efficient we & our adjoining neighbors barely even notice it is running. Also, it is extremely cost efficient! Only about $50/yr. according to our energy company. Thank you for the great product for the money! We are very pleased with our purchase!

The use of this Radon exhaust fan, when installed in a passive venting system the builder installed, dropped my basement level from 14.3 to 2.0. Easy unit installation and electrial hookup.
Comments about RadonAway RadonAway Model RP145 4" Radon Fan:
I bought this for a DIY home radon mitigation. This fan actually works better than expected. I mounted the fan extraction pipe in the center of my basement. I had a small hole in the basement floor at one corner and decided to see if the fan was drawing air from there. I placed a match over the hole and to my surprise, the flame was drawn down the hole. The fan mounted easily and everything for the electrical hookup was included.

The RP 145 was very simple unit to install. I chose this unit based on my research i.e., visual cosmetic appearance (very nice), energy efficient compared to comparative brands, and user friendly.

It works. Basement reading with a Radon Gas Detector HS71512 was 5.5pCi/L before connecting the RadonAway RP145. Turn on the RP145 after 10 days and my reading is 0.5pCi/L. Great :)

Comments about RadonAway RadonAway Model RP145 4" Radon Fan:
This fan did the trick. I had been measuring 36 to 44 ppm on a plug in Radon meter I purchased a few months back. Readings were changing primarily as a function of barometric pressure. As pressure dropped, I saw increases of Radon in the house. As barometric pressure went up, I saw radon levels get slightly lower. The highest readings were measured by the basement sump. This confirmed to me that the vacuum effect of a fan in the sump would in fact help me eliminate the radon in the house. I bought this fan after reviewing numerous fan types and vendors on the web. IAQ Source's prices were great, and the specs on this model fan looked reasonable for my size house and what I assumed my basement slab contruction to be. I installed it myself in my sump, with very little difficulty (more trouble finding a place to cut a hole in the side of the house that would not hit wires than anything). This fan did the trick. The radon level in my house dropped to 0.9 ppm. I was actually very pleased at how quite it is; I had read that it was quite, but did not really expect it to be as quite as it is. What more can I say; my wife is no longer worried about radon in our house and is now happy, so I too am very happy.

Installed the fan in my walk-in attic after we did new construction. Attic is right next to our bedroom and walk-in closet. Had the fan installed for three weeks (8/25/10) and it is very quiet. Cannot hear it at all when the house is quiet. Had to replace the old one that was a lot noisier. Easy to install. Completed the removal of old and installation of new in about 15 minutes. I'm not a professional, but somewhat handy. So far I'm pleased with everything. No complaints.

2 level house on basement. Sq foot of bsmt is approx 1100 sq ft. Orig reading was 9 in bsmt. Tried sealing around slab/poured wall and reading went down to 7. After install of RP145, reading is less than 0.5 - Problem fixed. Best advise I have on install is to use a 12 or 13 inch long 3/8 masonry drill bit to find the best location to bore the slab hole. Best location is in middle of slab for air draw, but I put mine against an ouside wall for asthetic reasons. If you do this try to go for the middle of the wall for better air draw, not the corner. Once you've selected the area, use the 3/8 masonry bit to check the depth of slab. Hopefully your 1st probe will be 6 inches or so. If it's 10 inches or more, (like my first hole) you're in the foundation or a area poured to support a load wall. Drill until you find an area in the 6 inch or less range. The 3/8 test holes are easily sealed. Big holes that are not in the correct location are not so easily sealed. (I should have thought that through a little more) After you've got penetration area figured out, rent a HILTI hammer drill and a 5in core bit at [...]. It'll run about $60. The bit will go about 5in in before it bottoms out, but if you still have more to go after 5in, just chip out the round core in the middle of the hole so the bit can go deeper. It's easy to knock out the donut shaped piece with a regular hammer and a small chisel. Use a little water while drilling to keep the dust down. No need to rent the $160 core drill that will go 11 inches in one pass. After you get the hole in, dig it out best you can under the slab to get best case air draw. Then glue a sched 40 PVC 4 inch coupler in the hole with the top of the coupler about 3/4 of a inch below the top of the slab. Use construction adhesive. The outer dimentions of the coupler provides a reasonable fit in the hole, but it will need to be supported while glue sets up so it doesn't slide down it the hole. Let it dry so the coupler is solid in the hole, and now you've got a fitting to glue the 1st piece of PVC into. After gluing in the PVC, caulk the heck out of the 3/4 inch deep channel that the coupler/pipe provides and you've got a no leak slab entrance. Rest of install is a piece of cake depending on how the vent is going to get outside. Fan wiring is easy. Be sure to buy the rubber PVC coupler kit with the vacuum gauge. You won't get the couplers any cheaper at [...]. - Good luck.

With a reading just over the limit at 4.6 pc I wanted to install a mitigation system. I have an active french drain and utilized a sump system with 4" Schedule 40 PVC. Installation was easy. Currently reading 1.5 pc so certainly this pump met my expectation.

This fan works just fine my reading before the installation was 9.5 now it's 0.7. The only reason I didn't give it a five star rating is the 5 year warranty is only good if it was installed by a professional. I took care when I installed this to make sure none of the piping toughed the house to keep the noise of the fan to a minimum. The fan sits about five feet out side our bedroom window and when the window is open I can't hear it at all.
Comments about RadonAway RadonAway Model RP145 4" Radon Fan:
This fan was easy to order and install. So easy, that I was able to do it in just under an hour. Most of the time I spent was trying to figure out what circuit breaker to turn off before beginning to do the work. The old fan didn't work, and I had to test a few circuits before I was sure I had the right one. Ordering was easy once I figured out what fan I needed. My old fan was painted over so I didn't have any of its attributes and had to do the math to get the right fan. I also ordered the critter guard and was glad I did. Since my old fan wasn't working, my PVC was full of birds and bird nests. Now with the working fan and the critter guard, problem solved. I retested my radon levels and they are almost nil now, well within the safe zone.

I used this for radon removal. I still need to do a radon re-test but am hopefull it will now come back satisfactory. It pulls a 1.3inch vaccum on my drain tile. I installed it in the basement do to the cold winters in our area. I may have to insulate the room for sound. I can hear it in the next room and somewhat upstairs. Just a hum but I notice it.

The fan is running like a champ. Nice and quiet - I can't hear it at all with the other mechanicals running in the basement. Very little vibration.
Comments about RadonAway RadonAway Model RP145 4" Radon Fan:
The cap that I installed (purchased from NT) should prevent future heavy rain water from entering the pipe and causing damage to the blower. Although, I don't really know what role rain water played in the demise of the previous blower over the 5 years time. I feel that a heavy rain would be able to penetrate the air flow coming out of the pipe.

New home, pre-installed radon remediation system with two sub-slab pipes. Gets good CFM (< 0.3 WC), my basement reading (with safety siren 3 unit) went from 5.0 pCi/L to ~ 1.7 pCi/L. With a bit of electrical wiring, the unit was installed in 30 minutes.

I was surprised and disappointed when the unit arrived to find that openings on the fan did not match those on my old one. They were 6 inches on the old one and 4 on the new. This forced me to a [...]to buy a set of 4 by 4 Flexible PVC Couplings. My mistake - that I suggest you try to avoid. The unit works well, is quiet, and got me down to 2 pCi/L even though the inlet size issue seems to confirm that the RP145 is lower power than the unit I replaced (nothing left on the old unit to read a make or model). I also went the route of a condensate bypass using a Y shaped PVC fitting as shown with the directions. So I'm hopeful that this one won't rust out like the last one. I just wish I didn't need to spend the money to run the device 24/7.

Installed the RP145 in our attic. Was a little surprised that the fan did not come with an attached electric cord. The installer must splice an electrical cord onto the fan's wires using wire nuts. It would have been easier if it was ready to plug in.
I consider myself a capable, handy, homeowner so this was not too big of an issue. Installation was a little under an hour. Our radon in the basement was between 38 and 42 using an electronic meter. A Kidde Radon charcoal test was aslo done. The lab reported a level of 38.
One week after installing the fan, the radon level has dropped to a consistent level of only 1.2 - 1.7. To go from 40 down to under 2 is quite a relief. Very happy with the quick results that this fan has given. It is powerful and quiet. Highly recommended.
