Combine the low noise characteristics of an axial fan and centrifugal fan performance at a value price! The Soler & Palau TD series of inline duct fans have been specially designed to maximize the airflow performance with minimal noise levels within the smallest and most compact of housing sizes. This makes the TD series the ultimate solution for small to medium size ventilation installations which require a high airflow to pressure ration and occupy only the minimum space possible. Example: false ceiling voids, cabinets and many other limited space environments. All models are include a "removable body" feature that enables the motor-impellor assembly to be completely removed or replaced without the need to interfere with attached ducting. All models incorporate a powerful mixed flow impeller and internal air vanes located at the discharge end of the fan housing. This impeller and guide vane combination provides smooth laminar air flow which in term minimizes turbulence and noise, and generates and excellent air flow to pressure performance ratio. All TD models include speed controllable, 2-speed motor with permanently lubricated ball bearings. I bought this fan to provide ventilation into a cabinet that houses two high-end desktop tower computers that generate tons of heat. Previous to this, I simply used a duct booster fan. While it worked okay for a while, the duct booster could just not move enough air to keep my computers running cool. Add to this the fact that it was fairly noisy. I found this fan and, while it's not cheap, it's the perfect answer to my needs. It's not silent, however, it's fairly quiet and moves so much air that I actually was able wire it using the lower speed option. It's very well made and, while it's impossible to tell how long it will last, I get the feeling that it will survive for many years.

My only complaint with this unit is that it's not grounded. The instructions show a ground wire, however, none is present and having a housing that is made from plastic, there isn't anything to connect a ground wire to. Not a big deal.

The good- Very powerful, small size.two speed.
The bad - Noisy, not overly but definately not "quiet", If your intallation is in a confined space it is very inconvenient to have to take the unit apart (remove the two ring clamps holding it together) to get to the mounting bracket.
The ugly- This unit is NOT grounded. The instructions show a ground connection but none exists!(perhaps not a factor as the unit is made mainly of plastic!)

You will enjoy this fan. It is easy to install. Apparently it is easy to maintain/fix. It is made of quality material. Check your air volume needs; this fan blows every bit as advertised.

OK, one small thing: the 2nd speed is not as slow as I would like. And I didn't even bother to open a small hole in the duct.

Used to blow air through a fireplace to heat our family room. A big improvement over what we had.
