Comments about Fantech Fantech RSK8 Spring Loaded Backdraft Damper for 8" Duct:
This product is being used as a 'diode' to prevent air from a common exhaust duct from entering spaces where it does not belong. I was designing one and saw this in the catalog, and it was exactly what I had sketched. Theirs was better - I didn't have to make it! Perfect fit in the ductwork, perfect rubber seal on the butterfly flaps. Caveat - install it LEVEL with the flap hinge pointing up. Unless you have air pressure to spare. It will tolerate a small angle from vertical, but too much may cause the flaps to hang.

If you are going to use an inline fan then you must use this to eliminate drafts coming back thru the fan. It works perfect

I will be using this in the attic with a Fantech FG8XL for stove top exhaust ventilation. Tried in on the fan before installation. It's heavy duty, good rubber seal, smooth operation. The thin light weight improvement store components can't even compare.

We installed this in the ductwork for the range hood. It has eliminated the draft and air leakage.
Comments about Fantech Fantech RSK8 Spring Loaded Backdraft Damper for 8" Duct:
I installed this with an adapter sleeve for a through the wall 8" duct to a large fan. I first got it too close to the fan because I didn't realize how far out the doors protruded when open.
This should be included in the measurements or specifications.

Comments about Fantech Fantech RSK8 Spring Loaded Backdraft Damper for 8" Duct:
my hydronic heating (only) "fan wall" system. 4 zones, each has inline Fan-Tech fan with back drft dmpr.As each zone cycles off it's fan, the BDD prevents the 'on' fans from drawing thru the off fan zone. No need for motorized dmpr. Each zones' stat. energizes a 24v 2pole Snglthrow relay. one pole for 110volt fan, other pole for hydronic pump. All 4 zones are paralled wired to pump so any zone calling will turn on pump and it's fan. When pump is energized the flow will kick on the tankless water boiler. I think I'll put a delay-on-relay to stall fan untill system heats up

Ordered two, one had a slight issue where the blades would not open due to a "catch" in the hinge mechanism. Contacted customer support and had a replacment within a couple days. [...]
Comments about Fantech Fantech RSK8 Spring Loaded Backdraft Damper for 8" Duct:
The spring that control the blade has just the right "touque". The damper opens even with the slight blow of air, and it shut tightly if there is no air flowing thru.
I installed this Backdraft damper directly on the outlet of the ventalition and it fitted perfectly.
