Five Year Warranty The Dryer Facts: When it comes to dryers, where is the perfect installation with little to no duct length? The reality which contractors and homeowners have to work with is far from perfect. A short dryer duct length is not always possible. This is where Fantech Dryer Boosters can help. Under prime conditions, residential and commercial clothes dryers should dry clothing in a timely fashion. Problems occur when dryers are connected to long runs of duct work. This is the reason why most residential dryers are located against outside walls. The exhausted air is vented directly to the outside without complicated ducting to hinder the performance of the dryer. Many dryer installations do not allow direct venting and the typical residential dryer cannot operate efficiently against the resistance created by the necessary duct work. The results are longer drying times, higher energy usage and costs, and excessive wear and tear on the dryer. Some common examples are: Basements that do not allow direct venting. Central interior located residential laundry rooms. Apartment complexes with centrally located laundering areas. Apartment complexes with individual hook-ups for dryers in each apartment. When to boost a dryer Typical residential dryers are rated at 160cfm. However, boosting is generally needed in order to maintain a minimum airflow of 100cfm as duct length increases and bends are introduced in the duct line. Based on surveying the recommendations from dryer manufacturers, and local building codes in selected areas, dryer boosting is typically required when the duct length exceeds the following: Maximum duct length with: No bends - 25' 1 bend - 20' 2 bends - 15' 3 bends - 10' A Word on Installation... Easy! The secret is in the fully automatic pressure switch. Designed to attach inline near the booster fan the switch monitors dryer operation and will activate the fan when the dryer comes on. Preset to cycle in ten minute intervals the fan will stay on until the dryer stops. All Fantech dryer booster fans are suitable for rigid duct runs of up to 60 linear feet with a maximum of six elbows. In all installations there needs to be at least 15 linear feet of duct between the booster fan and the dryer.

This is a great product. Pressure switch is very sensitive so make sure you have the right model for your application. This one was a little too strong for the short vertical run (15') and had trouble getting the pressure switch set just right. Homeowner is very pleased. Went from 3 cycles to dry clothes to less than one full cycle.

The indicator light on this unit is wonderful! After the motor was installed, the indicator light let us know that there was restricted airflow in the vent. I called the duct cleaners and they removed lots of lint from my duct!! This could have resulted in a house fire or at the least a burned up clothes dryer motor. I am so happy to have a unit that has this feature!

Cut my dry times by half.
Be careful where you screw the mounting bracket to the fan housing. If you go too far towards the center,
you can screw into the impeller.

Fan Works Has Mounting Design Problem
By BTFOMVerified Purchaser from Milwaukee, WI on 10/5/2008
Pros:
Durable
Cons:
Expensive
Bottom Line:

Comments about Fantech Fantech DBF4XLT Advanced Dryer Boosting Kit:

Fan mounting to the hanger bracket is poorly designed. When mounted to bracket with supplied self drilling/self tapping screws, the screws penerated into the fan wheel locking the rotor assembly. This happened after following the installation instructions. Also there is not way to remove burr that may occur when drilling for mounting. Yes I experienced a burr when the fan was started. The fan ran but whined/ticked until the burr either wore into the wheel or broke off from contact with fan wheel. After two starts and ten minutes of operation the fan run quite as expected.

There is not a normal operating procedure included in the provided instruction manual. There is a description of trouble sooting items but nothing on how the fan is supposed to operate. This fan's LEd lights brightly when the fan starts about 15 seconds after the dryer starts and then runs during dryer operation. The LED remains lit brightly after fan shuts down for about two minutes, the LED stays lit brightly but fan stops and then restarts after 30 seconds. The fan runs another two minutes and then shuts down.

Another item not included in the manual is that the LED stays lit at a low intensity after the fan has shut down. In a dark room the LED is visible.

If it all works correctly is hard to say right now. I would have thought the mounting screws would have been sized correctly and a complete description of normal operation would have been included.

Comments about Fantech Fantech DBF4XLT Advanced Dryer Boosting Kit:

We would have to run our dryer extra long to dry our clothing sufficiently. The booster allows the dryer to run a normal cycle and dry the clothes completely. The lint trap is a must. It is amazing how much debris it catches
