A small wheel turning very fast will create more noise than a large wheel turning more slowly for a given airflow. Our fan uses a wide blower wheel that moves a large amount of air at reduced RPMs. The blower wheel is also designed to draw air in from both sides, which helps keep the noise down, as there is more area for the air to enter the wheel. This is the quietest fan for a bathroom. I have one of these in all of our bathrooms now. It works well and I highly recommend the Panasonic Whisper Series of exhaust fans.

We have this fan in our small bathroom and it works great. Extremely quiet, just as advertised! We have had bad luck with bathroom fans. They were are always too noisy! We purchased fans from the big box stores before. The higher price fans there were not listed as quiet. I wanted something that would work to clear the steam out of our small bathroom. We used to have water droplets on the ceiling after taking a shower. Our bathroom is approx. 7 1/2' x 5' and we have not had a problem with this fan! This website had a great price and many choices to choose from. I don't think you will be sorry with this fan!

Love the fact that fan runs quietly. I have to pause to listen when I flip the switch to make sure that it is running. A big, big, welcome relief from the previous noisy (sounded like a jet engine was running in the bathroom) bathroom fan that I had professionally installed 10 years ago.

I installed two of these fans in two different bathrooms (both have toilets and shower/tubs). One bathroom is 100 ft2, the other 45 ft2. This unit easily clears the air in both. I do not run the unit continuously. I have it on a timer switch.The noise of the unit is very low. It approaches the "silent" holy grail. There is no noise transmitted to the rest of the house from this fan. You only hear it in the room it draws air from and then that sound is minimal. One of the units discharges through 12 ft of 4" insulated plastic flex duct. The other discharges through 50 ft of 6" insulated flex duct. Both work fine.The unit is supplied with all needed mounting hardware except wire nuts. Installation instructions are clear and well illustrated. Installation took <2 hrs to remove the old fan and install this one. Duct installation was ~45 minutes for the short run and over and hour for the long run.The only problem I encountered was when I tried to install just the fan housing with the fan removed. It seemed like it would be easier to work above my head with the light but cumbersome fan removed. But, getting the fan installation screws to line up in the housing can be difficult. Worked easily on one unit, could never get it on the other and had to remove the housing, pinching in on one side of the housing, to get the screws to line up with the brackets. Then installed it with the fan in the housing. That is the way to do it.This is a well made quality product. You will not be disappointed.

Because the built-in backdraft damper doesn't seal tightly I tried adding an in line backdraft damper. However the backpressure cause the fan to get louder. It restricted the air too much. I just hope when winter comes I don't get cold air dumming in through the fan. We'll see.

I installed this fan in existing construction. It would have been much easier in new construction and most of the instructions were focused on new construction. Very quiet fan, but not as quiet as my wife had hoped it would be. Very good quality of design and materials. Moves A LOT of air!
Over all very happy with this product.

This is the lowest noise fan I could find and I chose it because we run it all the time because we have cat litter boxes in that bathroom. The quality of the fan is first class with lots of installation options. The only problem is, my wife thinks it is not doing anything because it is so quiet. It really does move air.

Installed fairly easily. Is VERY quiet, yet powerful. Recommend you do not install with plastic flexible ducting. Adds noise. Use semi-ridgid or ridgid metal ducting.

I used this fan in a bathroom approx. 75 sqft. in a rented apartment with a timer switch. Very quiet, high quality, not built like other fan units from other manufacturers. I have bought and installed 2 of these fans in a month and will continue to install them.

Installation is easy ONLY if you have sheet rock ceilings. In an older home with plaster/lath ceilings, major modification to casing is required due to thickness of ceiling. Advanced skills necessary. It took over an hour for just the modifications.

I was replacing an old fan in our bathroom and installed the new fan myself.I found the directions confusing. In an attempt to cover all types of intstallantions there was almost too much information. Once I finally figured out what I was missing in the dirctions it was easy to install.

We are pleased with the fan. It is quiet, very powerful and well designed. I would recommend the fan in old or new construction.

My electrician had a tough time installing the two fans that we purchased for a hall and master bath renovation in our 1950's home. He thought perhaps it would have been easier in new home construction where the ductwork was a bit bigger. In the end, he got them installed.

These units are very quiet and leave little or no fogging on the mirrors.

We would definitely recommend them.

Wished the manufacturer put the electrical connections inside the fan housing rather than outside. Installation instructions appear to be written only for new construction. Some retrofit instructions would be helpful.
