we had a professional install the unit about a week after receiving it - it was his first experience installing a fan like this. i was most excited that he managed to install it so that the fan could be controlled by the switch or we could take advantage of the auto-humidity sensing features of this fan. i wish i had known this before installing the other bathroom fan we bought - i would have gotten two of these instead because sometimes you want the fan on for reasons other than just humidity ... especially in a bathroom ;-)
overall, i've been pleased with the unit so far (it has been installed for 2 weeks). with the shower on, i can't hear the fan unless i stop and listen for it; the fan noise is minimal but certainly audible in our small bathroom when the water isn't running.
the only 'issue' i've encountered so far is that the default humidity setting is a little low in my opinion - the fan continues to run for a period of time after i feel the humidity has dissipated and it came on once on a particularly humid day (nice to have the 'kill switch' option) but i'm sure i could change that if i got out the owner's manual.

Great working product. you will need experience or knowledge with electricity to install yourself. It has been running for 6 months with out any problems. The humidity sensor works great.

It's quiet and does the job. Installation was quite easy aside from the fact that the first unit sent to me was not functioning correctly. However, they sent me the replacement part within days, and we are now good to go.
I really like the auto humistat for the kids bathroom. I know that it will get turned on when it is really needed and turned off when it is not!
The night light is great.

The unit was easy to install and is extremely quiet. The only problem was that is was packed by Broan with wrong grille assembly. The wiring harness was too short and could not be plugged in. This issue was promptly resolved by Broan with a phone call to their service department. They are mailing a replacement grille with wiring harnesses in the proper location.

This is the second one I have insatall for the same customer. They liked the first exhaust fan I installed in their master bathroom during a remodel, they wanted another installed in the hall bathroom when we remodeled the second bathroom. A very nice fan and functions. We used a 6" duct. Buying the the switch that is recomemded is a must.

I installed 2 of these systems into upstairs bathrooms. I replaced louder and less effective fans that were installed with the house that was built 14 years ago. The humidity sensor that turns on the fan is excellent. I havent seen this feature by any other maker. You can wire the system into your current switch box if you have a light and fan switch already on your wall. This makes it easy to install since you don't have to do additional electrical wiring. I like that the fan has 2 operating modes. The first is auto mode that the fan turns on for 20 min when humidity changes are detected and the 2nd is for odor control were one can override the auto function by turning the fan switch off then back on. This allows the fan to run 20 min then goes back into auto mode. At .9 sones this fan is most quite compared to other ceiling models. Things that were not so great about it: I do agree with another reviewer that the exhaust back flow stopper probably needs a new design as I initially installed the ducting and found that the stopper fell out of the system and had to reinstall the stopper. This is frustrating when I am in the attic and working conditions are hot. The exhaust tubing is 6" diameter which is unusual for exhaust fans in homes and will most likely require new flexible tubing to your roof's vent. To get to .9 sones this was probably needed. If you don't mind slightly louder systems and want to eliminate adding new exhaust tubing, look at fans of this model that have the same size exhaust tubing as your current fan.

Tried this product for the first time - liked the idea of the auto-sensing hunidistat. It is extremely quiet. The four-funstion switch has stickers instead of beuing embossed as my own 3- function switch is, and I think that that is a little tacky, but my customer doesn't mind.
Overall - I like the product.

I liked the fact that fan automatically turns on when the humidity in the room requires the fan to be on. It works just as advertised. I had some some doubt about connecting the wires but all I had to do was contact Broan technical support, and they replied back to my emails promptly with the solution I was looking for. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Good unit for a the common bath fan. It is a larger one with need for large opening including depth of box but thats to be expected. The fan is fairly quiet but not as quiet as some others. Suppose its not fair to compair to the remote fantech units. Hefty price for common style unit but the moisture sensor does work great in the kids bathroom. Lights are a nice plus. Do buy the suggested switch +$25 which has fan(auto/oof/on) light on/off night light on/off Install was easy even w/o using the included hanging rails (we screwed ours straight to 2x6 as we were installing in old bathroom with no access to ceiling above and did not want to redo the ceiling. If you are looking for high end unit forget Broan and go Fantech remote mounted for less $s and silent run.

Broan- Good product, much better in quality than the NUTONE of comparable ability, and cheaper, and quieter. I had a Nutone that was rusting after several years use that I needed to replace. This fan works better, is quieter, and is better engineered, has more rust resistant parts than the NUTONE. It was also cheaper than the Nutone replacement.
