Comments about Fantech Fantech HP2133 Low Power Consumption Radon Mitigation Fan for 4" Duct:

I plugged this fan in and it has worked fine. It pulled the radon value from a reading of 19 down to less than 1 in a couple of days. My house is 2200 Sq Ft with a full basement on a concrete slab. Slab has plastic and gravel underneath.

Comments about Fantech Fantech HP2133 Low Power Consumption Radon Mitigation Fan for 4" Duct:

I replaced a HP190 that was using 68 watts... this one uses 14 watts. I tested radon level and it came back 1.2 pCi/L (I tested 2 weeks after install). That saves 473 kWh per year - about $62 where I live. It also runs quiet, it is installed near my bedroom so I was happy with that too.

Comments about Fantech Fantech HP2133 Low Power Consumption Radon Mitigation Fan for 4" Duct:

[...] I was happy about the low power consumption, quietness, and performance. It took my radon levels from 4.5 to 1.2 and keeps it there. (I have an electronic radon monitor). After about a year it is still running flawlessly and is so quiet, when I am the attic where it is installed I have to remain still to hear it. I also have a differential pressure sight gauge installed in the basement to confirm operation. Great product.

My gauge is reading about .65" WC with this fan on my system, and my Radon level dropped from about 14 (passive mode) to 1.9 (active suction). Assuming the power consumption claim is correct, this is just what I was looking for.

Comments about Fantech Fantech HP2133 Low Power Consumption Radon Mitigation Fan for 4" Duct:

Before my slap depressurization I measured 11.0 pCi/L for radon gas in my basement. I am very energy conscious and didn't want to install a fan that would be running 24/7. At the same time, I didn't want to expose my family to the hazards of radon progeny. I decided to try this low energy fan and if it didn't work I was going to eat the cost and buy the ~70W model. I just got the results back today - 0.8 pCi/L! I really didn't expect this good of a result. Needless to say, I'm psyched! I was able to run the 4" pipe up the old flue and installed the fan in the attic. I can hear it running only in the attic and I hope to never go up there again (yeah, right). Anyhow, I'm happy with this fan [...]. I'd use them again but I'm hoping I never have to.Also, this was the lowest energy fan I could find for this type of application. It uses about 28% of the energy the next fan up does. I calculate it to use about 175 kWh a year. The next fan up ~ 613 kWh/year.

Replaces same model radon fan that I installed in 2005. Fans runs 24X7X365. Thought fan would last longer than 3 years but the fan bearing started making a loud screeching noise. I have the fan installed at 45 degree angle so maybe in the vertical position it would be a less stressful orientation for the bearing.

Comments about Fantech Fantech HP2133 Low Power Consumption Radon Mitigation Fan for 4" Duct:

Radon is quite high where I live, 30 picocuries per liter, which is about 7-8 times the amount you would want in your home. My house has a gravel crawl space so I laid perforated pipe along the perimeter and sealed plastic over the top. The pipe then made a Tee to the radon fan which I sent up through the wall all the way out the roof. My radon levels now range between 1 and 4 pCi. There is a quiet hum from the fan but it is only noticeable in the crawl space so it is a non-issue. It also uses very little power. I would highly recommend this product for others with a gravel base. However, if you are retrofitting and must drill into a concrete slab, I don't believe it would be powerful enough to pull radon from a wide enough area.
