Good product, with straight forward installation. Only issue I had is that it states that its a stand alone system but, its expected that you will attached it to atleast a return duct system. Other than that I'm satisfied.

Overall this machine is excellent. It is a great buy for the money here on the IAQSource website, and I think is a worthwhile addition to a new home.
Because of my heating setup with the furnace filter located in the 2nd floor ceiling, I went with a "stand alone" attic installation and put the filtered air supply in the hallway right next to the furnace return/filter. I also put a manual furnace fan switch next to the GSEH3K control unit to circulate clean air downstairs without having to go downstairs to turn on the furnace fan. This whole installation turned out to be a lot of work because I have never done this sort of thing before and since I had to install new air ducts and registers. I didn't use the Broan registers, opting instead to match the metal registers in the rooms, and used "Speedi-boot" boot hangers. All this was lot of work in my case but I really enjoyed it and learned a lot.
In general I think this machine solves a flaw in typical new home construction: new homes are better and tighter, but this means we need more fresh air. Why not clean the air before it comes into your house? The GSE3HK does this, and more. The unit was well designed and is quiet in my opinion. I really like the LCD electronic control unit which I mounted in the hallway. I typically leave it in the "Auto" mode, which is a low speed intermittent operation.
Some Additional Plusses: I think this unit is one of a kind at this point, this type of system should become standard equipment I think in new homes at some point. It allows you to select where to take in fresh air, and allows you to keep your windows closed which reduces noise, and in theory at least means you will never have to clean your house again. When the fan is not running the air passages to outside the house are closed, via spring-doors, which is what you want.
Some Minuses: The dual exhaust/intake works well but I think it may be simpler to just cut two 6" holes in the side of the house and go with the Fantech COM6M vents (need to be about 8' apart then). The dual-duct styrofoam piece seems easy to break if someone bumps into it. One must also be careful taking the core out for cleaning as it is easy to mislocate one of the door springs and this will cause the intake door not to open (this is addressed in the manual). Flex duct in general seems rather flimsy, so one has to be careful with the installation. One last thing to mention is that the washable foam filters in my unit were hard to get out at first, but I solved this problem by removing the extra gooey adhesive that was stuck to the plastic filter guides.
I don't know how long the energy recovery core will last, but it seems rather incredible. On this model you can only vacuum it to clean it as it will be damaged by water.
Really nice machine, and glad I bought it.

Installed it two years ago in our 100+ year old home to cut down on dust, improve air freshness and remediate low level radon problem. Connected it to our existing ductwork. It works perfectly. Other than cleaning/replacing filters we hardly ever even think about it. This was a

I am using this to pressurize my house. In order to keep allergens from entering the house through various areas, I installed this unit to bring in fresh, filtered air. The difference in installation is that I did not vent the exhaust air outside of the house. I didn't purchase this for ventilation. I purchased it to bring in fresh filtered air and to pressurize the house. I had read that the best way to combat allergens is to pressurize the house. Otherwise, allergens come in from areas likes cracks and any place that isn't airtight. Each time the wind blows or the ac comes on, outside air comes in and in Texas there are alot of allergens that come with it. So, by pressuriziing the house, we are actually blowing fresh air into the house and probably leaking a little of it out of the house. So far it's been about 4 days. We've noticed the house is cooler, less humid. And the allergies seem to be better. The installation was easy. I just followed the instructions, but I don't recommend just anyone do it yourself. If you have done some involved home projects, you can handle this. Unit works great.

I bought this product to install in a 110 year old house in Sydney (Australia). I imported it myself from IAQ Source [...] Being an old house there is insufficient windows to provide good natural ventilation, and also natural ventilation is polluted. This ERV was simple to install, I did it myself in two days installing fresh and return ducts to a 3 level house!Air quality within 3 hours was noticably better. After two weeks the humidity has been reduced substantially to 50%-55%, and the whole house feels like it has been dried out!If you want good airflow, high quality filtered air (HEPA!), then this is a great unit for residential applications. It even runs perfectly on a step down transformer so it can be used anywhere!I love it!

We live in a major metropolis where pollution + allergens are way of life. Our city is rated one of the worst in the country for allergies. This product really works! We installed two in our dual zoned home; one for each air handler. When the units are turned on it is like opening your windows and letting in fresh mountain air MINUS the allergens and particulates. Every day since installation, our allergy symptoms are greatly reduced or gone then we step outside and get hit. Too bad the entire city can’t be as easily treated as our home.
